Ah, see, when he signed from Everton he was on £50k but I thought he took a wage reduction on the extension?
Now that bit Robbie I can't confirm or deny. You are better informed than me on that score, I was just party to the discussion on what he was paid for the first season. Good point, well made mate

Mate this isn't a forum battle. I live in Sweden but I am a ST holder. My daughter knows Mrs Jags, and the reason I know this stuff is simple: A chat with me, David Holdsworth and Billy Sharp just after Jags was signed.

I'm not sure why people find it difficult to believe. If we had signed Jags for £1m and paid him the same as Berge or Egan no-one would bat an eyelid, but remove any fee and put it into wages instead and people think you're lying.

At my age I don't give a flying fuck what anyone on here believes. I just offered what I know/believe to be true information. What you choose to do with it is up to you. (that was a general statement Balham mate, not aimed at you personally)

So does your conversation account for Jagielka signing a contract extension this season? From why I’ve heard he was the highest paid last season but isn’t this season, since he and others signed new deals.

edit: just seen your other comment on this which pretty much answers my question

No mate as mentioned elsewhere, I can only vouch for the deal he had when he first signed. It was absolutely £50kpw. If he took a hit this season that's something I know nothing about. I was party to some nailed on info the first year, but it's true to say whatever the continuation deal was I'm not sure about. He might be on 30 bob and a pickled egg now, but he signed for £50kpw in the first place, that's all I can hang my hat on

Yeah saw your next comment on it and edited my post.

So maybe all this alleged unrest and internal squabbling behind the scenes, was what Billy Sharps Mrs was referring to in her Twitter post?

I got a text from someone who was looking at the car park from Cherry Street on Saturday afternoon March 13th as the players were leaving for Leicester that Knill didnt go on the team bus, just got in his car and drove off

Tbh I don't think Heckingbottom had a choice, there was simply no other suitable person at the club to be caretaker, and he's probably been given a pay bonus for doing so, too.

No brainer for him, he gets a free hit to win a couple PL games, if he doesn't win any he goes back to his old u23 job. Win win.
maybr he had the requisite coaching badges to take over in the short term

Even if true, what's to get upset about if you actually live in the real world?

We went up with a 20-30m wage bill which was inflated by 10m of bonuses.

We had a 78m wage bill in the last accounts meaning it will be even higher in the next set of accounts.

We're dropping back down to the level where we had a 20-30m wage bill.

Looking at where you can prioritise your money spent is just sensible business if you want your business to be sustainable.

Not further investing in (apart from the roof) infrastructure which was ok last time you went up when covid created a 30m hole in the accounts and revenue will be down year on year, is sensible.

Spending other people's money is the easiest pastime on the world. After taking in about 240m over 2 years there shouldn't need to be a reliance on a Sugar Daddy to put together a half decent campaign. It's a good job we cleared 17m because I'm pretty sure they will cover the covid losses at least nevermind the operating ones.

The players have been crap and so has the management this year and there is a fallout to that. The budget was about 15th in the league but we opted to pay high fees and low wages. We could have had a different strategy.

Scrutinizing high earners and those that will attract high fees is bound to happen. It doesn't mean we're going to sell everything not nailed down but clearly for a club expecting to retain status, spending 60m on fees and improving contracts of those at the club, and then getting relegated, there will have to be some cuts.

Seems that a number of people associated to the club just don't live in the real world. In reaction to the headline details my thoughts were simply "And?"

I know that the part in there about the training facilities is 100% made up, having done work there.

This leads me to believe that the rest is also complete nonsense.

and to be fair, if Egan is going to be on the best part of £50k per week, we have to try and sell him really.
I don't have an issue with Egan but if you get 20m and 2.5m per annum off the wages you could take most Championship centre halves to play a stopper role at half that. The guy at Millwall is an absolute beast for instance. Or the guy from Celtic got linked and he'd likely be sub 10m.

As long as you don't do it too much, but in some cases it will make sense.

I'm excited a little that we might be open to some foreign players. The pool seemed so shallow this summer.

It’s certainly an interesting read and the poster has left a pretty easy way to verify it in there. If Egan, Norwood, fleck and Berge and out of the door sharpish then it’ll certainly give it some weight.
Yes and no. You yourself could have posted that the most saleable and high earning players will be targeted. This would apply to almost any relegated team.

And these also require buyers too. So I think it would be hard to validate this information. If nobody comes for Norwood, we can't really say the reddit post was false because Norwood is still here!

I'm being picky, so apologies, it's just that I think these type of posts are not easy to validate because so many other factors are involved in them coming to fruition.

Player contracts normally have relegation clauses in them which ties to a wage reduction. Egan wont earn 50k in championship with us and unless a buy out clause is inserted, we dont have to sell him.

Athletic this morning says:
It is understood all but maybe one or two of United’s players have significant wage reduction relegation clauses that will kick in during the summer.

same article also says:
Prince Abdullah, when speaking in the aftermath of Wilder’s departure last month, revealed: “Some of the players have clauses in their contracts, so that if they get a certain offer, they can leave. We cannot do anything about that.”

Definitely Berge, not clear who else has a release clause.

I agree high earning players will attract significant interest naturally especially the likes of Berge and yeah it’s a fair point you raise. I guess it would be more accurate to say if united move those players on early in the window it adds credence to the claims made here. Although if united were as keen to move these players on as the post says you’d expect something to come out during the summer about the likes of fleck and Norwood being transfer listed even if we didn’t end up ultimately shifting them on.

This club has become so toxic and it seems to be getting worse

“Firstly. This is a burner Reddit account. I will not be using this account after this post. I don't consider myself a whistleblower,

Just reading that opening convinced me this is some fantasist who has watched too much Line of Duty

If true can't complain about cutting your cloth accordingly, as for staff unrest show me a club bottom of league and breaking league records for shiteness that doesn't have unrest

Was it ever just rumours? I thought it was common knowledge the Knill was the tactical brains of the operation, that’s just the way he’s always been. Dealing with the players on a day to day basis is what Wilder was good at
I must say this does remind of the warnock days when popular opinion was that Blackwell was the brains at the time.

I think we can agree that was bollocks and over time I think this rumour will be proved similar.

Another load of bollox post from 4x4 or whatever he's called.
Very novel.
Trouble is, it works every time - he gets everyone wound up and then stops commenting, knowing that his job is done. I wouldn’t be surprised if he posted the original anonymous comments.
