Last night I was sat in a hotel bar with the wife after the match. First visit home post lockdown to see family.
Chatting about stuff, then in walk (separately) four players. One had played, one was injured and two were on the bench. one buys a Guinness (hadn’t played and not injured), others stayed on their own bottles of squash. No hanging around or posing, just polite to Staff and off up the stairs.
I didn’t get the courage to say well done, thank you for the smile you’ve brought me or sing he’s a Blade etc
When I said to the wife this morning that I’m going to leave a note at reception saying something simple like Top game last night. Thank you etc
Her retort was “They ran upstairs last night as you looked like a love lost Hannibal Lector staring at them and now you want to start to stalk them. You’re 52 not 12. Grow up!”
Just don’t get it some of em do they?
PS- car park had 5 cars in it worth around half a million quid in total. And yes I looked at every one before she could start on me again!!
