Being as I'm home already after a swift walk from New York.
A draw would have probably been a fair result. It was your typical friendly really. Disjointed and didn't help that we clearly didn't have our first 11 out at any stage.
May have got players wrong below as there were few announcements, so apologies for that.
Howard - Simo reincarnated. Great shot stopping. So so so so flappy. VERY uncertain of him.
Westlake - Looked solid at right back, did fine at left. Got forward plenty in first half.
Williams - Just not athletic enough for me. Again, did okay, but Ainsworth was excellent for them so had a job on.
Hill - Hmmmm. He's NOT a central defender, and had experienced strikers against him. Did okay is best I can say. And played better in second half.
Maguire - Good as usual, couple of small errors and Odejayi was a bloody nightmare for him in the second.
Flynn - Struggle to see how he offers a good outlet long term really. Not got the pace nor trickery. Good enough end product though.
Tonne - Very poor. Sorry Foxy and Bergs. Did little in the 45 minutes he was on.
McAllister - See above really. Despite not possibly being our worst players, Tonne and McAllister were our most disappointing.
Monty - He was Monty really. But our best midfielder of the starting four. A couple of fairly acceptable passes.
Porter - Tried hard, won little. Porter is as Porter does.
Cofie - EASILY our best player of our starting 11. Strong, great touch, dangerous. Tired quickly in second half but he was excellent overall. Stunning goal assuming he meant it.
SUBS
McMahon - very good. Got forward plenty even if Flynn ignored him. Limited Ainsworth in second much more than Westlake did.
McDonald - bit sluggish really, but still a million miles better than McAllister and Monty in the first.
Doyle - as above, but the better of the two central midfielders in the second.
Quinn - Man of the match for us IMO. If we get this Quinn through the season and he doesn't go, we'll go up. As we know, it's unlikely we will though. The archetypal excellent Quinn performance.
Cresswell - a better version of Porter. Should start with Cofie.
Miller - quite happy with his contribution. Worked hard, fair enough touch and I think he'll improve.
All in all, some very good signs, and a number of worrying ones. Only a friendly so a pinch of salt should be taken it goes without saying.
For them, Pringle was outstanding and deserved his MotM award. Ainsworth caused us shedloads of problems too and he's the type of right winger I'd really like at the lane.
Good banter between the two sets of supporters as you'd guess, and the NY stadium is a tidy little ground.
Good report that, i made my way to the New York Stadium for the biggest crowd the stadium will ever see. Agree with some houso but i will list my thoughts on players.
Howard- Agree with what you say exactly, he worries me.
Westlake- Did OK at right back but i thought he looked out of place at left.
Hill- Never a centre half i agree
Williams- like porter he is williams not a gifted footballer
Maguire- looked the same as usual still slow but reads the game well prefer collins beside him
Flynn- Just not a fan never seems to beat a full back plus can't cross a ball
Monty- Is monty end of
McAllister- never really in the game had a poor effort on goal
Tonne- not good enough IMO glad to see him go off
Porter- tries hard as you say but sorry not good enough
Cofie- quite excited by him great finish hope he lives up to his potencial
SUBS
McMahon - very good. reads the game well
McDonald - not at his best but a lot better than McAllister.
Doyle - as above, but the better of the two central midfielders in the second.
Quinn - seems to do better when he comes on as sub, looking at him last night i think we need to keep him
Cresswell - a better version of Porter. Should start with Cofie.
Miller - thought he was rubbish to be honest but i can see him improving might chip in with 6 or 7.
Thought Quavers i mean pringle was by far there best player if we do lose quinn i'd be straight on the phone got a great left peg.
