Last season it was Maguire.

Who will leave this summer to subsidise the loss in season ticket sales?

My moneys on Murphy.

I would have also said if Clough leaves then Brayford could possibly go to a Championship team.

Nailed on Murph will not be a Blades player by August.

Sad.

I agree it's likely to be Murphy. That would be a mistake.

Agree, Murphy.

On the positive side, at least it's not another defender! On the negative side, it isn't a defender because we don't have any defenders. :D

Are people sure Murphy is going to go? He signed a new contract earlier this year and has just had a baby. I can't see him leaving this summer, maybe January depending on how well he plays and if he needs to move to get into the national team.

Last few months Murphy's not been anywhere near what he'd been showing previously

He plays well, the team play well

We currently have a bunch of average Joes with a few exceptions

Get shut of around 10 if we can and bring in 5 of better quality, that's if Clough can tear himself away from Derby, ex-Derby and Scottish league players

Improving the spine is critical. It's not been good enough I'm afraid

I don't think the club's financial position is such that we need to let any of our better players go, and nor do I think the attitude of the owners is to do so.

I genuinely believe that Maguire was let go because he wanted to leave. We can have the usual debate about whether it's worth holding on to players who want to go, but I do think that was the reason, as opposed to financial reasons.

This season I don't think we have any players who are likely to be being tempted by approaches from significantly bigger clubs, or clubs significantly higher up the league.

For those reasons, I don't think it's likely we'll sell any of our better players.

I think Clough will stay, and I think he'll be given money to add to an already expensive squad (by League 1 standards). The question is whether he knows how to use it. On that I think the jury is out, but we'll soon find out.

Would you like a wager ? I say Murphy will still be here for the first game of the season.
What about the second game of the season?

I could see Wigan doing a Wolves/McDonald on us. I wonder if murph has a release clause...

Fucking hell. Snatch your hand off Sitwell.

Five of your English pounds says that come game one of the next spluttering failure of a season (ending in predictable Play-off ignominy) Murphs will be flogged at a disappointing price (regardless of existing contract) for an 'undisclosed' fee (likely £325,000.48 in instalments) to a Championship outfit like Bolton Wanderers. The mewling excuses will follow that we had to sell him because he had a trigger clause in his contract that any club offering over £6-75 (in instalments) meant we had to flog him. And of course, that money goes straight back into the playing staff (as long as we sign Scottish Div Three benchwarmers)

It's the Blades way.

The fiver bet still stands Sitters. To be settled in a boozer to the value of beers and crisps at a future game to be decided.

Go for it but it will most likely be Beer and crisp at a fiver .

I enjoy these threads. Remember last year someone saying we'll probably sell Scougs for £2million during the summer and that it would be typical of the board.
It fell through because the club who put the bid in didn't bring a booster seat with them.

Shame that what actually happened was we sold a better player for about the same money. That was indeed typical of the board.

And I know, he wanted to go, and we can't keep them, and even Man Utd sold Ronaldo, and blah blah blah.

I don't know whether that's true, but if it isn't, then it should have been.
