So, what's the reason for all the quietness?

We are waiting for the Premier league stuff to start which will knock-on some buisness for us. All the tinpots are currently getting players from the obscure leagues

Like Bulgaria.

Half centre halves? Would that be centre quarters?

All seriousness though, I'd imagine he'll have already asked for recruitment folks to be providing recommendations at CB, as well as wingers. We already knew defenders were needed, and now he's said we'll be playing with wingers, it'd be pretty damn handy if we actually had some!
Sorry ! also we don't actually know how far along the new young lads are ? I know some on here would actually want them to fail !!!

We need to get behind selles and the owners, lets give them a chance before we start getting shoe's off in the car park !!

Im betting we know who we want but in a lot of cases we don't know if the parent club wants to keep them.

Phillips is a perfect example. Spurs new manager wants to have a look at him and there's rumours Romero may be going for 60m+. So until they have decided whether hes needed we will have to bide our time for either a purchase or a loan. If Spurs deem him surplus to requirement we would be a great loan destination for him. This is where the poker begins, do we bring someone else in who we don't rate as highly or wait until possibly near the window closing to get our number one target?

Interesting logic.
It was also probably the signing that cost Wilder his job.

How is it interesting logic? It’s common sense. Its interesting logic to see us sign someone for £10m and then assume it means we’re skint.

It was publicly said that the board sanctioned the signing of Cannon over and above the plan to give us best possible chance.

This surely suggests they’ve got money to be able to make decisions like that and are willing to spend if they think it’s a worthwhile investment.

Wilder will not have lost his job based on one signing. No way, no chance. It will be a culmination of things which cost him his job and likely a different vision for the future being the main one.

I agree that this is probably (hopefully) the case.

My concern is how much time that gives Selles to build his team and get them playing his way.
A slow start is inevitably going to cause unrest in the ground (warranted or not). I hope we have enough in the squad to pull out results in the meantime anyway (a bit like the whole of last season) - but it does worry me how things could snowball if there's not enough time given on either side of the season starting

If anyone watched got ,remember the arena scenes with the sons of harpy ? Just replace the masks with Wilder masks and you'll get the first game idea 🤣🤣🤣

Well, it’s all speculation till it happens
Exactly. So why state as fact that we have been after players & missed out on them when you haven’t got a clue? I think I know why, but it would be interesting to hear from you why you do it in case I’m wrong.

I think your right in what your saying but players need to be in for the here and now it’s no good having them when wear 5 games in and having to play a few players out of position or young uns then it’s points dropped and and 6/7 behind already

We're a championship football club with reduced income, a high wage bill and have just spent £10m on a lower league striker.
We won't be skint in an S6 sense but having not long ago received a points deduction for not paying transfer fees I'm intrigued as to why you think there's money to spend without significant outgoings.
If I owned SUFC and was talked into spending £10m (and a lot more on wages) for our Tommy pretty sure I'd be a tad annoyed.
The reality is that spend blew a hole in what otherwise might have been available for this season.

In case you haven’t noticed we’ve changed ownership since then.

We’ve gone from being owned by a millionaire to people with a collective worth in the billions.

Their wealth is in a different league to the princes.

If they didn’t have funds available for this kind of signing then they’ve bought into the wrong hobby / business and shouldn’t be talking about promotion and establishing as a premier league club.

If it was a risk they couldn’t afford they wouldn’t have signed him. If they were skint we wouldn’t just have paid Wilder off with lucrative thank you.

Only United fans can watch us sign a £10m striker and decide that means we’re skint.

Fuck me

Birmingham's owners are splashing their own cash. We haven't spent anything yet so that means we're skint.

Surely Rubenator needs time to install this signature total football that he’s going to deliver us?!

It’s the 3rd of July.

The players have returned to work for pre season this week.

Hardly anything happens in June. Players, staff, agents etc usually have most of the month off on holidays etc.

It’s not quiet. This is pretty normal. Can’t understand how people are getting so upset about this - moaning in every thread. We really have got one of the neediest fan bases.
They’re upset because Birmingham might sign one or two players before we do.

I don’t know who the chairman actually is, but our consortium comprises of about 6/7 people now from different parts of the US. If they’re of an equal share holding I guess they all have to be consulted on financial out goings and opinions may vary on certain choices…I’m sure someone will put me right on this.

They will all agree a budget with Bettis and the management / recruitment team for the season and not directly consult on every single transfer.

They’ll only have to discuss in detail if more funding is required.

I've heard that the board think that the team that finished highest in the league last season without getting promoted have a half decent chance of finishing in the top 6 again the absolute crazy yank fucking nutjobs
