It certainly was not a hard fought 2-2 draw after being 0-2 down and playing rubbish for about an hour.
The 2- 2 at home after being 2-0 up against the pigs. The 4-4 at home against Exeter. The home game against Oldham after cruising at half time. The pens not given at Swillsborough.????
I'm sure there are some I've missed?
It wasn't yesterday though.
PS what is the latest on Collins family and Alan Woodward?

Last minute equaliser conceded at Orient?
Losing to Wycombe away?
Oldham at home
Exeter at home

Quite honestly we could pick a number of different events which contributed to our situation. You could also point to Antonio scoring in the 96th minute last week for the Pigs which gave them all three points.

It really doesn't matter now - we need to beat Exeter to restore some confidence and then on with the play offs. The club and the players need to believe they will win the play offs whoever we play. Like most fans, I haven't got any hope personally, but I hope I am wrong. UTB

only keeping 2 clean sheets in the last 16 games...(Brentford and Hartlepool)

Only taking 1 point off Wednesday, otherwise we would only need to draw next week

Dropping points against Oldham, Walsall and Tranmere

Only winning 2 games against the top 8 teams

DW poor record in the loan market / transfer window

Two teams going full on all season. We get injuries to key players (McDonald, Cressy, Hoskins ect..), we lose Top scorer, and we play after Piggies 4/5 times in last few months. Just one too many, Pigs been lucky but they have had a great season and whoever finishes 2nd will have earned it. I for one am proud as we've had a great season, Maguire has come on to be a quality player, McDonald is one of finest midfielders we've had for a while, Lowton is a top full back. Danny has also got us playing good attractive football for the first time in many many years. Lets remember how many times it took Norwich, Southampton, Leeds, Charlton and Piggies to get out of this division. Let see how we fare in the dreaded playoffs.

10 defeats, more than anyone in the top 6 and I remember discussing this around the Grayson/ megson sackings, we had fewer defeats than most sides around us.

I wouldn't say it was one game, but the poor run through march has been a huge factor.

I'm sorry, has the season finished?

Wendy now actually have something to lose coming into the final match and we know how they can bottle final day crunch matches just like us. We have nothing to lose going to Exeter so never say never. Clutching at straws maybe, but this season has exceeded my expectations by a long way and long may it continue.

UTB

Charlton have had perfect season. Blades and piggies matched each other and will both have Championship winning points totals, but 3 don't go into 2.

macdonalds hamstring.. we went to pieces at that very point.. 5 points ahead, 2 games in hand.. never really got it back

I think I'd have to go for yesterday tbh. Every season has twists and turns but we've had time to re-adjust after all the others. For me, we've actually been very resiliant this year for a change, but we are, forever, a club which always fall at the final hurdle.

Pigs last minute winner last week. we have done enough to get promotion ,they have had a few breaks and that was the one that put the pressure on.

Oldham at home, we were cruising at half time and came out for he second half and played with an arrogance and lack of respect for the opposition and got what we deserved in that game, nothing.

Losing Ched at a similar time to when we lost Hulse in the Prem. That plus the second half against Oldham.

But lets hope Wendy get two sent off next week.

Lowton's lunge against Oldham. They'd just pulled one back, when went down to 10 men and they equalised. We chased the game, got caught out and Maguire walked. We went from three points to none in the blink of an eye and had our entire back four out for the midweek game against Walsall (though Collins and LJF would have missed that one anyway). That's the real killer for me, six points down the drain.

The galling thing is that that game apart, the team's discipline has been terrific this season.

Spot on.

Hindsight is always 20-20, but Maguire should have let the Oldham player through. We may not have won against Oldham, but we'd have had a better chance against Walsall...

Oldham at home was a massive kick in the balls. To be absolutely cruising at half time and then that to happen... bleedin 'ell. Only United could do that! That phase where we just couldn't hang on to a lead (Wednesday, Orient etc) has also had a massive effect. It's so frustrating.

I think Simmo would have saved any shot. The ball was running away from the Oldham player and if he had had managed to get a shot in our heroic goalie would probably have smothered it. That would have given us a point from that game and in our hands this Sat.....

Looking back there was a host of different moments. Drawing against Exeter at home was highly furstrating and you can look back at games like Wycombe away and Tranmere at home and think fook me, if only we'd won that. Oldham was crippling. Had we drawn that game and got a result at Walsall we'd not be in this mess. We scored goals away in the latter match, but without any of the first choice defence then were pants at the back.

McDonald getting injured was a crucial moment for me. I think with him in the team we'd have got a result at the Sty. That would pretty much have killed off Wednesday's chances. I also think that we'd have picked up more points in the subsequent games. We had to completely change our style and did not play the same without him. It is no conincidence that we were completely controlling games before he got injured and we won 6 on the bounce when he came back. I believe we'd have challenged Charlton if he'd stayed fit (and Evans was not locked up).

The court verdict seemed to knock the stuffing out of the team, but last week we blew yet another chance. All we had to do was get a result at home. We had a week to prepare and get ready. We knew Stevenage were solid, physically fit and would defend and then counter. We got outplayed for 6o mins. The way they almost crumbled under our pressure late on just frustrates you more, as if we'd played like that from the start (or even h/t) we'd have won.

It is difficult to take anything away from Wednesday. They have had a bit of luck, but they have been clinical. Their battling and never say die attititude has to be (begrudgingly) admired. Looking back on our mistakes, you can also look at Wednesday's fortunes. Madine equalising with the last kick of the game at home to Walsall, Antonio getting the late winner a couple of weeks ago, Rochdale missing a pen etc.

I am unsure about counting ourselves unlucky. Their is a strong case for this in that we could get over 90 points and not get promoted. McDonald getting injured when he did and the Ched verdict were very unlucky. Also, it has been highly frustrating that the Pigs have played games before us and been able to put pressure on. But we have always known we had to do. We've also been pretty lucky with injuries for the most part. It is incredible that young Maguire has played almost every game and Lowton and Collins have only missed a couple. Our rock solid defence had, until recently, been one of the key factors in our promotion campaign.

For me it was Ched's verdict. As it was announced I got the same feeling come over me as Chelsea away and Wigan home games.
