Well under control
Two wins out of two (both away). Creating chances and limiting the opposition to very few.
They can only beat the sides put in front of them. So far so good as far as I am concerned.
Whats the problem?
Got to agree with you can't believe what i am reading from some. Its common knowledge we are skint, who expected more to leave? me for one, no one expected our biggest earner to get done for rape that has stopped us selling him for one and devalued him to be worth nothing yet we will have to continue to pay his wages until everything is decided. I think we have done well to keep what players we have and also bring some in with our state and wage bill. We have won our first game 2-0 away at Oldham not the easiest of starts, then gone away to Hartlepool a place we lost 2-0 last season and went through the tie. What have people got to moan about??
UTB and i hope DW continues getting on with things and proving people wrong.
People aren't arguing against Wilson nor the reasons why players haven't moved on, the problem is that McCabe said at the end of last season that he was resigned to the fact that he might have to 'write out a few cheques' whilst things settled down. Obviously we don't know to what extent he's already doing that but to miss out on players like Kruk who will be on relative peanuts when the likelihood is that at least one of the high earners will be gone on the next couple of weeks seems unduly cautious.
As I said above, one or two injuries and we could be up sh1t creek again.
As i said on a different thread, i feel we have a decent size squad to handle injuries plus players coming back from injury. Kruk might not want to sit on the bench awaiting for an injury.
I'm not sure DW wants to rely on Harry as 1st choice CB though, given the choice I think he'd rather play Lecs there although he has looked good going forward from LB so far. As I said, what cover do we have for CB / LB given an injury or two in the next few weeks ? We can't rely on the fact Morgs and Taylor may be back at some point and Kozzy may or may not sign whatever contract we've put in front of him. I just think we're taking the same risks we've taken for the last two seasons when, as we know, it all went pear shaped and we ended up funding expensive loanees.
We are an embarrassment ! Lined up three Division One class trialists McDonald, Kruk and Duke and then admit we can't afford to sign them up 'till we get rid of a high earner!
Yet we waste pounds and pounds offering Kozluk a new deal!!!
McCabe has overseen our demise, most of the faults lie at his door and yet this wealthy man stands back and lets his new manager admit that we are skint and can't afford to sign these guys!
Does McCabe want us to wallow in the third division forever playing in front of a half filled Bramall Lane or 5,6,7000 fans at best at 90% of other grounds in this division.
He appopinted Wilson, yet won't back him - no wonder we are reduced to the Maestro and Doyle as our 'best' midfield pairing !
God help us !!!
At present, Parrino, also Connelly can play RB and Lowton can obviously move to CB if required as well. We also still have Warren that can come in and offer us short term cover at LB, I also feel we have more than enough adequate cover with the likes of Connor Brown and Tel Kennedy. Of course we can't rely on these two youngsters for long periods but they can do a short term job, if needs really be. We then also have Morgan, Ertl and Taylor due back eventually.
Admittedly midfield is more of a worry, if Willo, Monty and Quinn left then we lose 1 good player and 2 decent players from that line so I think McDonald is a little more of a priority. But still we have McAllister, NML, Flynn, Harriot, Gregory, Tonne, Doyle, Ertl (again when back), Jordan Chappell, and we can also look to use Philliskirk and Slew out on the wings if needs really be.
Of course the players I've talked about are short term solutions and we could always do with adding more experience if a long term problem occurs, but everything being thrown in this debate is looking at long terms problems, and lot of it are just if's and buts at the minute. I understand the concern due to the problems of the previous seasons and maybe taking a few risks but I think we are in a bit of a better position cover wise to last season. Don't get me wrong it isn't ideal but a little better.
Parrino as back up? He hasn't signed has he?
Signed along with NML on a 6 month loan so here till January.

Almost every team in the football league would like more players. Most dont have as big a squad as ours!
There are sides in the Championship that are thinner on the ground than we are and they have smaller wage bills.
Seems apparent that we have a hugely top heavy wage bill which reflects on our squad (lack of defenders for one thing).
Injuries are always a worry and you know at some point we will get one or two but thats football.
I think we are a bit light as well but if the money isnt there it isnt there. Danny seems confident he could do a job with what he's got.
Yes, we have a big squad with plenty of cover, if we include the youth team and development squad who have about 10 games experience between them. By the beginning of September we could end up with a fit and available squad with only a handful of players with more than 50 games under their belts.
I don't remember it being reported anywhere
I'm not suggesting it's ideal Jim but it's certainly a bit more healthier than the completely dilapidated squad we had last.
Is this a serious post?
I'm not even gonna bother getting into it. Clearly you don't understand the real world.
Just for the record Rob Kozluk drives a Toyota Auris

If DW did indeed want Mcdonald and co, and was told there's no money. Then who's goin to be hit by said stick if and when it goes tits up,Mcabe, course not, everyones favourite scape-goat THE MANAGER.
Also what has Rob Kozluk's mode of transport got to do with anything - it may have been his wifes/girlfriends car for all anybody knows - last time I saw him driving down the M1 he was driving a Range Rover - does the make of car he drives improve his defensive qualities??? The mind boggles!
Plenty are goin to blame Mcabe and rightly so,me included but plenty are gonna be calling for the ex pig managers head, why, don't think he's asking for the earth.
Not asking for the earth? Well, for a few pounds more, maybe we could get one that might be a bit better. But for a lot more money, we could get one that might be a lot better, yes? ...and thats the logic that has us where we are. Down a hole, trying to shed millions off the wage bill whilst the geniuses have us buying in more players who can't get a game anywhere else, seemingly to prove we have as big a dick as everyone else. (Are we really jealous that the piggies have signed Rochdales crocked striker for £350k? Really..? Does no-one remember how/why we bought Ryan France? Lesson, anyone?)
Meanwhile, McCabe has no choice but to underwrite this years losses to the tune of, erm... more than most people earn in a lifetime, and continue to do so on into the future until the big contracts have expired or been shifted out. Yeh, McCabe out. Booooooo..!
Danny Wilson. 'Ex-pig' he might be, but for good or ill, he's one of ours now. The 'plenty' who will call for his head (and I have no doubt they will at some point) are part of the reason we are here too...
Unfortunately, Dunc, McCabe put the Blades in this position.
A very wealthy man who built his fortune via property and bought a football club - only to display a complete lack of business sense in the football world - not the first or the last businessman to fail at football
Yes, he has more money than you or I but does that make him a better chairman?
Who sanctioned the big contracts, who appointed Robson, Blackwell, Adams and Speed, who sold Beattie when the Blades were on the brink of automatic promotion
Sorry Dunc, you cannot defend the man - we are where we are because he was in charge!
Yes, Wilson is in charge, not my choice, McCabes choice don't blame the fans for where the Blades are - it rests with McCabe but Hey he's SUPERBLADE!!
Dunc! Welcome back.
How timely. I was arranging a (real ale and proper footall loving Blades) pre match drink on Saturday. Fancy it?![]()
