You're right about Newcastle fans, I used to be at Sunderland Uni, I always felt the Geordies were a set of arrogant t**ts and thought Sunderland much more down to earth. A set up not too dissimilar to Sheffield and Leeds.

Indeed the whole divide / disparity between the 2 Cities outlook / attitude is epitomised by the ( shipbuilding) phrase
We makem (make them) & they takem (take them) - whereby vessels constructed on Wearside were (perceived to be) purchased by wealthy merchants resident in the (far) more affluent City on he Tyne

I doubt that they would be driving down the A1, with an airport close by !

Just a hunch about young men’s interests / priorities
Equally I guess they could always fly to the Serengeti or Amazon if they want to experience some ‘countryside’ - well those that aren’t (yet) environmentally aware

Excuse me. " Leeds, Liverpool or United ". On here, and in Sheffield, " United " means Sheffield United, the first United, original and best. It seems that the name " United " makes you instantly think of Manchester. Shame on you if you really are a Blades fan.

The board of Queen's Park Rangers was yesterday hoping that the arrival of a new billionaire owner in the form of Lakshmi Mittal, head of the world's largest steel company and the richest man in the UK, would herald a similar change of fortunes for the long-suffering club.
