This child is a casualty of a Saudi strike in Yemen. She was lucky 5000 have died or are seriously injured, The Saudi's are using Newcastle as a PR tool to hide the atrocities they commit in the name of profit and self preservation. They execute people at a horrific rate with very little trial. They kill journalists in their embassies and yet the Geordies to quote the first one I have spoken to "don't give a fuck about human rights as long as we win the champion's league". Well over 90% of Geordies support the deal to assist the Saudi PR washing exercise. Our owner is part of the house of Saud but none of his money as an individual is to utilise us as PR tool to deflect from the atrocities the Saudi Government is carrying out. This would be too much for me as it would no longer be part of the community if we became a tool for a state with an appalling record.

I'd have liked it to be us, I'd like to see us win something in my lifetime..

I am however glad that its a northern club which has megabucks.. Makes a nice change..

At least Steve Bruce and his violent cheating referee conning frankenstien style of play will be thrown in the bin where it belongs...

He'll trouser 8million apparently, that'll be him retired from management hopefully.

Then ask yourself the question. would you want Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman anyway?
No.
I don't want the club turned into something it isn't, or ever was, by pumping it full of cash.
Might as well as go and watch Man City, and pretend.
Prince has pushed all the prem money back in. He has also funded in.a sensible way to his own personal limits.
The spoilt, jealousy of wanting new richer owners, is embarrassing in my eyes.

I think they made a mistake investing into Newcastle. Difficult to expand the stadium. 50k support is nothing special nowadays, and probably can be equalled in revenue by a London club with 30-35k . Deprived and isolated area, which will not attract glory supporters like Leeds (another investment option). Foreign players won't want to live there unless you offer huge wages.
Great city surrounded by fabulous countryside.
Good transport links.
Why would top players not want to go there if they start being successful on the pitch ?

Lets be honest are City/Chelsea/PSG fans happier then they were before?

Expectations change and happiness is completely relative in football. Relative success is key. One of the best seasons in my lifetime was smashing our way to promotion from League 1 - I'll wager as fans theres few in the world who enjoyed that season more than us.

Does winning the Champions League mean more to Chelsea, than winning Promotion to the Premier League for us? Does it fuck.

Does Chelsea spending 100m on Lukaku get fans more than excited than when we signed Brewster / Berge etc? Hindsight excluded!

Sure every fan would like there club to be more successful, win and compete at the highest level. The reality is it doesn't really matter, that not why we support of continue to support the Blades.

Were generally a miserable bunch who love a moan, if we were a top 6 club we'd just be moaning about other things.

🤷🏼‍♂️

Think the bit about players not wanting to live there is a bit wide of the mark. It's a fantastic city and has some very nice suburbs and smaller towns around it.

Guess it's just the distance to THAT LONDON that might put off some prima-donnas.

There were/are plans to expand one of the small stands and have a horseshoe look like Celtic Park. I think that was going to increase the capacity to 70k.

Bert, never met many Newcastle glory supporters, local or from down south, even during the Keegan era. I'm sure a few existed but nowhere close to Leeds, Liverpool or United. I think that would impact on commercial deals, kit manufacturer deals, sponsorship etc.

The stadium issue is I think it is ugly due to being massively unbalanced. Looks cheaply constructed. Not impressive on camera like Spurs and Arsenal. As the Saudi's are buying a vanity project to impress people globally, I think the costly expansion issues are a drawback.

I don't think Newcastle are the worst club to invest in, but I think there are better options..
Excuse me. " Leeds, Liverpool or United ". On here, and in Sheffield, " United " means Sheffield United, the first United, original and best. It seems that the name " United " makes you instantly think of Manchester. Shame on you if you really are a Blades fan.

I said the same about Sunderland to my bird last night, I bet they'll be loving it in Mackem land!

You're right about Newcastle fans, I used to be at Sunderland Uni, I always felt the Geordies were a set of arrogant t**ts and thought Sunderland much more down to earth. A set up not too dissimilar to Sheffield and Leeds.
And they say romance is dead😉

Agreed, Newcastle is a fantastic place. Vibrant nightlife, decent restaurants, a buzzing atmosphere, attractive architecture, fantastic shopping in the Eldon Centre and Metro centre. Then you have the fabulous Northumberland coast, Kielder forest and the Cheviots. And Geordies are generally great fun. It's one of very few places I'd consider moving to and give me Newcastle over London any day.

That’s a very brave post.
Where money comes from is sometimes clear cut and sometimes difficult to acccertain but a good proportion of it is either exploitative or morally questionable. The UK exports arms to Saudi and does very well thankyou.
We all buy stuff from China who’s human rights record is appalling.
Where do you draw the line?.

Why would Newcastle need a bigger stadium, especially as you say they will not attract glory supporters?
Which isn't true by the way.
To attract glory supporters first you need some glory. That’s been in short supply on Tyneside for decades

I’m not sure if it’s the players or the players wives, but it will certainly be a factor when they try and assemble a team of foreign superstars IMO

Disrespectful to our owner which is obviously your intention.

Which sort of makes your question at the end just something to disguise your true agenda.
The kid is right though, I've been watching united 50 years and we've never had 2 farthings to rub together. Surely we're as attractive as the barcodes. Not many clubs would keep the support we have after years and years of winning fuck all and watching the dross we've had to suffer. Newcastle had a couple of shit years in 80's and were getting single figure crowds. Mind you they think their massive just like the scrubbers up road

It has but things are about to change and when they do all the glory hunters will be on the bandwagon.

We don't have the premier league history like Newcastle do.

As shit as it is you also have to remember that on the other side, you have those beacons of human rights Iran and their mates the Houthis. You know. The guys that overan and kicked out the elected Yemeni govt of that time. So I guess it's either a shit sandwich or a shit laced with sweetcorn sandwich..... With the poor populace caught in the middle.

We would have if we could afford players like shearer, keegan, asprilla ferdinando ect
In the 90s teams like Newcastle, Leeds and Wednesday were able to buy the players we could only dream about signing as they were trying to catch up to Man Utd.

Only Arsenal and Blackburn were ever successful until a Russian arrived in London.

We are probably never going to attract a rich owner.

Not so sure I'd want the glory hunters anyway, they always turn nasty when the going gets tough ,
no give me the local yokels every time,
Though thick or thin they never give in.
it's in the blood.......... ;)

I’d rather we went back to local owners and played league 1 or 2.

Wendy are on a detachment from EPL you know. Let's not get above ourselves.
