If we're quibbling over £50,000 it all sounds a bit unlikely to me - especially if we're allegedly a club serious about promotion.
If that £50,000 means the difference between 7th and 6th or 3rd and 2nd, it should obviously be paid. But if we either don't really want the player, are absolutely skint or the chairman doesn't trust the manager then maybe those are the reasons why we're not shelling out.

1) The player in question was offered terms and accepted them
2) Ched Evans fee and wages (not to mention the recent deal in place for Lita) suggests we're not absolutely skint
3) McCabe extended KBs contract within the last 12 months

Just had a quick shufty on t'interweb and note the player in question is listed as 'on loan' at Bristol. Was tha 300k a loan fee / loan and wages / signing on fee / purchase price.

Dunno mate, I think it was Foxy who raised the same question. I was under the impression it was a transfer fee originally but seeing as he's only on loan, it could be a loan fee (which would appear a little steep). I'm afraid that's all I know. Oh, other than he was here for a good while training with the squad and all looked like a done deal before it became apparent the £300k wouldn't be raised.

Yes its very very very difficult for TA to suggest anything about the source... if anything, he's probably already gone too far.... Whether you believe me or not, it is certainly trustworthy and I can vouch for that myself.

This doesn't mean however, that should we wish to spend it, we cannot afford £300k, as most of you know (and some of you pretend not to ) there is much more to it than "we can't afford £300k".

Thanks for that Foxy - it was me who was guilty of pressing TA yesterday on this point. TA did go a little further and I'm grateful for it and hope he hasn't compromised himself or his source.

As for your criptic hint about "...theres much more to it than that" I'm sure we can afford 300k or even more if the right player/deal came up - but I don't think thats what you're getting at is it ?.
