Have we not been told in the past that the playoffs slow down the signing of new players and that it put us a month behind other clubs?

Nice to see that us not being in the playoffs has meant a raft of good signings then

oh wait....

yer negative fookers ! .................
remember we do things the Blades Way :D

We're selling to get some more dosh in, we're getting some more high earners off the wage bill and then we'll get round to filling the holes with a bunch of freebies.
McCabe said so at the fans forum.

Be interesting to see if the play off teams make signings before us....

the ignore list is great!

instead of having to read the repetitive nature of certain posters drivel, i just get: "This message is hidden because lenners is on your ignore list."

Brilliant!

If you've got Len on ignore, you're doing yourself a disservice. It's the internet equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and shouting "La La La can't hear you!".

I don't understand the mentality behind putting people on ignore. The whole point of a forum is to interact with others. if you don't like people's views, just don't respond.

There are some posters on here who have hundreds of posts who've never written anything that I want to react to or respond to - but they might do one day. If you use ignore, you'll never know.

Come on Soton, that was what he said, wasn't it?

No not really. I listened to the whole thing on the RS playback and heard nothing of the sort. If anything they weren't remotely specific on transfer targets.

If I'm wrong about this I'm happy to hold my hands up - enter quote from the fans forum - but I dont believe he ever went into any sort of depth on ins and outs. Could someone who went clarify this?

Very well put Rev. However, lenners only tends to rile me with his comments. I just don't want to type something stupid in response, which i'm likely to do if i read his muses. I may remove him someday when i learn to restrain myself :D

Really? They held two fans forums and said nothing about budgets, ins and outs, what the plan was?
Well, I never.

I dont know lenners. All I know is I dont remember McCabe or Birch stating at any point that certain players would need to be sold to cover free transfers. In fact - unless it wasnt on the play back I definately never heard anything of the sort.

The directors have maintained for some time that the budget would need to be cut, whilst certain players would stay and others would go as a means of achieving that. That was very clear and so was the information they gave on the wage budget........but they never specified a transfer budget or how any new signings would be funded.

As I said, if I missed that or it got lost in translation then fine but the subject was very vague from what I gathered and a few people complained about the lack of transparency regarding it.

This really is the cue for someone to confirm what was said. Someone who was there preferably........

There must have been some point to the forums?
Why else would they have been held? Quite a few on here thought they were really good.

The window might not be open yet but plenty of transfers are being confirmed around the leagues.

We've had 1 outright rejection (Williams) and another possible rejection (Mackie), so we are trying with the looks of it, we're just not getting them in. The signings will come, it all depends on the standard of them. With some of the names we're being linked with we shouldn't be expecting a great deal of United next year.

It would tend to suggest a certain level of ignorance, and/or a lack of belief in what you have to say. By choosing to "ignore" it is an admission that you don't have the social skills to interact with other posters who may or may not share your opinion.

Best thing to do in this situation is to wrap yourself in cotton wool and only look for the really really nice people who may have sent you a big thank you or two when the "thank poster" option was available.

One or two are way too sensitive on here, about time they realised that it isn't real, it's just a football forum :eek::rolleyes:

:gallop:

BM waits for "if you don't like it here then go elsewhere" "maybe this isn't the site for you" "how can you talk about interaction when all you do is offer insults"........etc etc.

If I were to take a guess at the outcome of some of those we've been linked with;

Connolly:- possible
Ebondo:- possible if we dont get Connolly
Bartley:- quite likely
McCarthy:- quite likely
Nosworthy:- unlikely, although we do seem interested
Coke:- unlikely, dont know much about him
De Leeuw:- unlikely, a bit unproven
Tonge:- unlikely, money is a big issue
Sam:- possible, but others are interested
Mackie:- seems to be nothing more than a rumour
Bogdanovic:- almost certainly

From players re-negotiating I would say:-
Naysmith:- will stay
Kenny:- will stay
Montgomery:- might go (at the moment I think he will)

We will probably be linked with at least 4 or 5 more over the course of the summer. These will probably be the ones we will get as the early pre-season tends to throw a lot of 'curve balls' with no foundation.

I have to agree with Mart here. I dont understand the ignore function myself. There are times on this forum when I dont like an opinion or when I think someone is talking utter bollocks - in fact I tend to challenge those views. I dont see what ignoring them is going to achieve though. I dont have anyone on 'ignore' and to be honest I wasnt even aware the function existed until yesterday.

People who choose to use it are entitled to it and that's their prerogative but I feel they wont get the most out of coming on here. Its supposed to be about debate as much as like-minded conversation.

It's there for extreme circumstances, but not a feature we actively encourage people to use.

Like you rightly say, it's about debate and therefore we'd like to think that people could feel motivated to maturely and respectfully take on board/debate opinions.

We'd hate to get to a situation where a large number of members feel they have to use the function to enjoy using the place, so far in all the years we've been running, the feature has had very little use and we'd rather it stays that way.

You cutting down Uncy? Nice one, we don't want any of your bits sticking out of your Spedo's on your summer vacation

Case in point is your hissy fit over the America posts then?

No, the case in point would have been proven if I'd chosen to ignore the posts and the poster, I didn't, I replied.

You aren't very bright are you Bramley? Maybe you should change your name to Victoria as you appear to be a bit of a plum

Big Mart's timely interventions are making my choice for poster of the year a real difficult one. Lenners had launched an attack (and subsequently over took) Beighton some time ago, but Big Mart is right up there now :D

Getting rid of the thanks button and bring in the ignore button (IMO) was a bit of a mistake. If you don't like someones post then ignore them, or even better challenge them.

This is a forum ffs. People of all different natures come on and debate our beloved Sheffield United. If everyone agreed it would be boring. I have to agree with BM that some people take this too seriously. I'm not down with swearing at people or insults, but everything else goes. If I put my opinion up (particularly if it's controversial) then do I expect people do debate it? of course. Is there a chance that someone will tear it apart, get the wrong end of the stick, disagree etc? Yes! Thta's what it is all about!

The ignore feature has always been there. The thanks button will return at some stage.
