Always fancied spending the night at Bramall Lane - here’s your chance!

We are very excited to announce that SUFC will host the 3rd annual St Wilfrid’s Sleep Out at Bramall Lane, with participants from the club, including Chief Executive Stephen Bettis, sleeping out in the John Street Stand for one night only on Friday 13th March, to raise awareness and funds to support our work with vulnerable adults and rough sleepers in the city. We’ll make a night of it with refreshments, card games and chat. Over the course of the evening there might well be a Blades’ Legend or two popping in to say hello and wish you goodnight. Bacon sarnies and a spot of yoga to stretch out tired limbs will bring the event to a close in the morning.

Why not get a group of friends to join you and challenge yourself to go without your home comforts and gain a small insight into what life is like for rough sleepers, for whom sleeping rough is not a one-off experience. As an added bonus, any Blades fan who takes part will be entered into a competition to win a signed home or away shirt, to be presented by the player of their choice at the next home game!

Experience something new, support our work and take on our challenge by signing up today. To register for the event or to find out more visit stwilfridscentre.org/events or contact us at [email protected] or 0114 2555720

Would it be sleeping on the actual pitch or in the stands?

Hi, this is Tracey from St Wilfrid's Centre and it is great to see the chatter above about this event.

Greasy Chap Butty is right, it will give an insight into how rough sleepers cope each night, sleeping in the cold, trying to find shelter each night. However in the morning we can go home to a hot shower and a clean bed (except those who are travelling up to Newcastle for the match ⚽ ) I can't guarantee a lay in knowsnowt but there will be a bacon sandwich to help you wake up.
Worksop II The bar is not open and the Sleep Out is a dry event. This is for everyone's safety and comfort during the night. Actually drinking alcohol before sleeping out in the cold can be very dangerous. https://www.drinkaware.co.uk/advice/staying-safe-while-drinking/alcohol-and-cold-weather/ So no hip flasks either!!
We are looking forward to as many fans joining us as possible and with the added bonus of being entered into a prize draw to win a signed home or away shirt to be presented at the next home game, why not sign up for the challenge https://www.stwilfridscentre.org/events

If we partake in this event, can we still sit under the tunnel on st marys gate and beg for the next home game, even though we all have a home to go back to?

I'm a fully experienced rambling hiker. Got kit that's more than adequate to keep me warm, so this wouldnt be any sort of "challenge" or hardship at all. So its pretty pointless. 🤔
