On the championship goals prog after our game they put up the following stats for season so far

Blades 1st in touches in opposition box
1st in attempts at goal
3rd in crosses into box

On average have 9 players in opposition half throughout a game just Egan at the back

Most attacking team in division

Then "people" wonder why we get a few penalties.

Don't forget the biggest stat of all we Dive the most in the box to con Refs into giving us spozzy penalties.

Small correction: we actually we don't shoot all that often, we try and create good chances rather than shooting on sight. 15th in league for shots per game, 9th for shots on target per game. Similar story to last season really.

Our play last season in and around the oppositions 18 yard box was IMHO generally poor.

Our overall possession stats in a game were good - but the ones who talked about sideways and backwards passing between our defence and midfield were justified.

We've upped our game in the final third this season, with the midfield we've got - none more so than Freeman and Stevens. As discussed before Stevens crossing has improved immeasurably this season and Freeman's ability to find space in the box is just outrageous at times.

I am now going to take the piss out of a numpty that sits behind me in South Stand - you may recall Stevens popping of on Freeman's side during the first half that result in him having a weak shot, saved easily by the Hull GK - the numpty behind said "what the fuck is Stevens doing there?" - what he was doing there is the result of how we are playing now and why we are near the top of the stats quoted above. Our wing backs have license to get forward and "confuse" the opposition defence with extra bodies - we work overloads all over the place - and it's bloody refreshing to see. We push on all over the place. The midfield is very fluid in their movement - we are quite simply, working the football in and around the areas that can cause damage.

Long may it continue.

Surprised by the "crosses in open play" stat. I thought we would rank lower than 3rd as our full-backs often seem to turn and play the ball back when they could get a cross in.

One of the commentators at the Leeds/Brentford game said something like "we're watching the 2 best attacking teams in the Division". Obviously hadn't seen the stats!

Yes, have noticed this too - I reckon they have learnt from last season where we used to put balls in to no one. Think Freeman and Stevens are both playing with such confidence, that they are specifically aiming for someone and if there's nothing on, then decide not to cross.

Perhaps we're seeing more coaching now of specific situations, especially round the oppositions box.

CW alluded to this many times last season about not being good enough in both boxes - we appear to have got better at both.

Players like Egan and Norwood have given us a tad more freedom when getting players forrad.

So the most attacking team but we also look more solid than last year. Guess we’ll be coming up against some stronger forward lines in the run up to the new year so we’ll see.

It does seem we are being more patient with our attacking this year, well in the last 2 games anyway.

We have done over the last couple of games, but we've conceded 3 more than last season at this stage. Even then....we relied on Henderson making two fine stops to keep Hull out too.

Quite a lot of our goals so far have been us opening sides up and giving it to someone (usually Billy) to put in from about two yards.

We're creating very high quality chances, good to see.

SHOOT

sorry don't know what happened there, the voices in my head from people behind in the stand must have triggered something.

Just cos I’m curious.

Why is his nickname Didsy ?

Does anyone know ?

Cheers. DB.

“Did” is a nickname for “David” and as he’s a footballer it has to have a “y” on the end so the “sy” was added I presume.

I was at Alfreton Town U17’s when Wilder was first team manager and his mate Mark Shaw was my manager, he was an absolute fucker for giving shit nicknames out and putting a “y” on the end of everything.

We had a few friendly games with the first team and realised that “Shawy” was just copying “Chrissy”.

Yes fair point, didn’t know about last season. Plus the 4 conceded in the Preston/Millwall games were against teams who hadn’t been a slight threat
until they scored. Don’t know I just thought the Blackburn game was quite a significant performance, not exhilarating by any stretch but very good tactically.

We’ll definitely find out in the next 6 or 7 fixtures how the defence copes

The Blackburn game was a great moment for us. We won in a way I don't remember us winning like for a while. Totally composed, not gung ho, just bided our time.

Sometimes Chrissy goes with an O doesn't he? Brooksy, Brooko.

If he'd managed McGoldrick earlier in his career he might have been Dido! Imagine the confusion.

Rule goes out of the windy for Duffy....

remove the usually added 'y' and add an 's'....

Duffs.

It was all a little bit David Brent at the time. We had a lad in the team with the surname "Cooper" and the manager called him "Coopy", I wanted to hurt him every time he said it.

I think as long as you don't call someone by their proper name and make it sound just slightly cunty and annoying in a really non ironic, ironic way anything goes.

Have a like for refreshing my mind of the word spozzy. Not heard that since I beat my brothers score on Daley Thompson’s decathlon on my ZX Spectrum. The joy of hearing that screeching download noise, only for it to fail after 3:52 mins

I remember that shot by Stevens and what struck me was seeing Billy sprinting back to cover the left back spot.
