Sky Sports good news, pause your subscription !

As of Friday, you will be able to log in to your Sky account and pause your Sky sports subscription. This means that you will not be billed for sky sports until live sports are back on. Also it means you will stay on the same offer you are on now, no need to cancel. A sensible move by sky, if people just cancel they making alot more work for themselves. Here is the statement -

Please check back online from Friday. In the meantime, please be aware that we have reduced resource in our call centre and we apologise if you are unable to get through to us on the phone.

I wonder how they'd feel if I asked them to divide my subscription by 11 and just bill me for one football channel when it's back on and I'll not bother with the other 10 channels of 'quality sports content'?!!

Just called to cancel. They scaremonger you with the recording saying over 1hour wait to cancel the package. I was through in 23 mins (quicker than buying Blades tickets over the phone).

What pissed me right off was that they try to make you stay - It's only cancelled till 4th April blah, blah, blah. Then tried to upgrade my package to include broadband.

Suppose the longer they can keep you on the call, the less people get to cancel so the less money they lose out on.

Oh, and I cancelled, didn't pause. Sod that. I'll tell them when I want it back.

I was quicker getting through than you, instantly, but then same experience. I couldn't pause as I don't have a contract with them.

Other than that, they have transformed sport on tv over the decades.

They were doing sub to one sports channel for £18 so you could do that if you wanted.

For anyone struggling - try doing it in Internet Explorer, it worked for me no problem.

I seem to remember that SKY's webservers seem to have an issue with the Chrome browser........

Well, I got to the next screen for confirmation and they are having “technical difficulties”.

I have done this , log on to your sky account , go to the bit where you can upgrade or downgrade your subscription packages, there are three choices . Upgrade , downgrade or pause sky sports due to coronavirus ( or words similar) . When you click on it you get a message telling you your subscription is suspended and will re commence automatically when the live sport does . You can also still watch all the sports channels!!

Fire stick, going to the game/pub/Amazon football when I need to. Match of the Day, Netflix and catch up players for everything else. Taking my broadband elsewhere too. They charge too much for not enough.

My decision was made easier by the fact that when sky sports goes, I watch virtually no sky specific channels. I don't need it.

You can now watch endless reruns of the big 6. Avoiding MOTD as that will follow a similar theme .

Fair play to football focus, in between the big 6 items they did do a great piece on Union Berlin that is well worth a watch.

but let’s face it 90% of all subscribers are on it for the sport, specifically the football. It’s why Sky won‘t do too much to piss off the Premier League during the shut down they won’t want them giving Sky the boot in the next round of contracts in favour of Amazon or someone else.

Cheers fella - We’ve just checked our bill and it has been deferred despite the site never working. We even tried phoning this morning but that was banjaxed as well. Wonder if they’ve just done it for everyone.
