Hopefully they will say they have both been told to fook off already. Megson and Brown that is! haha

If Brown is defensive then you can assume he's in the frame. Doubt whether they'll press him.

I just can't see us going for Brown. If Robinson was still here I would be worried.
I think you will be able to tell whether the job is out there or whether we have already gone for Speed from what they say. That's about it

Megson says that sacking Blackwell was a bit unfair. "United are a fantastic club, and being brought up Sheffield Wednesday <fx: gritted teeth> that's a big thing for me to say ...."

"Kevin hasn't spent a penny on transfer fees ...... and he hasn't had the circumstances others have had."

Kamara says his CV is going in the post lol

Brown not really asked directly if he would be interested.

Brown - Speed knows the club and he thinks he's in prime position, harsh sacking, said he spoke to Blackwell on Tuesday night at Chesterfield and he was saying how much money he'd brought into the club

Smegson - unfair, huge club, fantastic club, KB spent nothing, said you look at how the club has been run, what money's available when you consider taking a job

Not surprisingly, they were more interested in taking the piss out of Kamara's odds of 100/1 for the job and of the two, Megson seemed to be uncharacteristically glowing about us. Brown didn't really say anything about himself and the job and neither did they ask him which I guess adds fuel to the fire for the conspiracists.

Evans, Williamson, Ward, Yeates I can think of off the top but I'm guessing there must be more.
Not that transfer fees matter as much as they used to.

Phil Brown ...

"Gary (Speed) knows the club. He's in situ at the moment...... I think Sheffield United refused Gary permission to talk to Swansea, so that shows their intention where Gary's concerned ...... he knows the situation Kevin Blackwell inherited, and the situation that Kevin Blackwell has produced over the last three years. I was talking to Kevin on Tuesday night at Chesterfield, and he said that he brought in £25m in transfer fees ...... to not spend ..... is a bit harsh."

Any chance of pressing you for who you'd like to take over Len ?

That'll be the £25 million Robson spent then :)

That's about it really. There was a very indirect question regarding the job situation which Gary Megson jumped in. Given that the odds on United's next permanent manager were displyed, I suspect the 'question' (such as it was) was directed at Phil Brown.

Basically Megson said there would be a 'bloodbath' in the Championship as the relegated clubs have longer parachute payments. Oddly, he gave Neil Warnock a good mention, saying he was a good choice for QPR given the 'clamour' to get back to the top flight. I also suspect he meant from a financial point of view as well.

It's abit rich of Blackwell to be (allegedly) Saying he has brought in £25 million, when a fair whack of those transfers he was opposed to.

If Megson got the job i would cut up my season ticket straight away!!!

Would KMC do it to spite Warnock?

I hope Megson's performance is simply down to his desperation for a job rather than any serious likelihood he's in the frame. Would be a massive error were he considered.

It was pretty plain that Megson was talking through extremely gritted teeth, so with equally gritted teeth I have to commend him for saying what he did. That said, I don't think it was for any other reason than he can't say what he would want to as a fan on TV.

Not a prayer he'd get the gig at the Lane.

I don't think this will be a McCabe appointment, Birch made the last recruitment decision in Pembo and I think he will be the driving force behind this one.

O'Driscoll for me, with him given a clear brief to change the footballing culture - with the board/McCabe making it plain that that is the overriding priority, not promotion within 9 months.
An emphasis on young players being given a chance and re-establishing SUFC as a real footballing club as it was when I first started going.
(I expect Speed though which appears a huge gamble given he's been coaching what's been served up for the last couple of years.)

Do you think O'Driscoll would be worth the £1.5 million it would probably take to buy out his contract?
You know we are in agreement about SoD being a great choice but is it realistic?

Finally do you think Speed has had a large say in the tactics and first team we've seen under Blackwell. I would say Ellis had more input than just a coach.

I agree with Nick... well Len actually.

Len, would you be anti-Speed from the off or can you see what he might have to offer?

My thoughts exactly, we are in complete agreement :)

My fear is that it'll be a monetary decision rather than a footballing one although get the 2nd one right and the 1st will fall into place. I guess it'll boil down to who makes the decision.
