Not letting setbacks derail them in the last couple of games, they've even used it to their advantage.
United have to fight and scrap for everything, theyve added some quality play to it as well now.
But most of all they have to BELIEVE

If the players truly believe it they can do it

There has been a difference in recent games where we’ve started winning.

Wilders tactics have always been to start matches at full pelt (as he says “on the front foot”).
It means 1st half we often look impressive having teams penned in their own half defending in numbers.
However we run out of steam 2nd half and tend to concede late goals.
Or maybe the opposition manager works us out at half time, so we’re never so effective 2nd half.

Would love to have an off the record conversation with Wilder.
Away at Reading we seemed to deliberately let Reading have all the initiative 1st half.
Our tactic seemed to be to contain them and not let them score 1st half.
Then 2nd half we played our normal “on the front foot” game and won quite comfortably.

The last 2 games at home to Derby and Blackburn we were fairly cautious 1st half, seemingly conserving some energy.
Then in the 2nd half of both matches we upped our game, upped our tempo, energy levels and desire.

Makes me wonder whether it’s a deliberate tactic from Wilder to pace ourselves so we’re at our best in the 2nd half.

Took the words right out of my head.

It's a new level for Wilder as well . The good news is he appears to be adapting his tactics to maximise our energy in games . A bit less gung ho and a more well distributed effort.

It seems fairly obvious that the game management has changed over the last few games, or in other words we are getting a lot smarter on tactics. If anything yesterday it was Blackburn who had nothing in the tank after 75mins which was surprising as we had 20 mins of being a man down before it went to 10 v 10.

See no difference at all in style etc.

Our strikers are taking there chances and the fans are giving the players confidence.

That is the real key to success. We just have to make sure we do our bit.

Through a long run of games where we didn't get what we deserved e.g. Wednesday, Leeds we have kept going with attractive positive football not hoof ball or bus parking. Now we are adding more confidence from success to the mix which is a virtuous circle. Going into the Christmas games after West Brom it felt like it was going to be season defining and has so far gone very well. Who would bet against us for a playoff place now as opposed to the widely held view we were heading for mid table after the baggies ? We truly are this divisions Burnley / Leicester and can go all the way.

It’s called form. It has always been and will always be in the future. Stop looking for shit that isn’t there.
This...both wing-backs are putting in 8/10 performances,Flecks back on it,the players have hit a rich vein of form and its lovleh xx

Big change in style when we went down to 10, less of the wing back stuff and more of a 4-3-2 and getting the ball up top quicker. e.g. second goal a diagonal ball from left back to Billy.

There's been a clear change in first half approach over the last two games.

Isn’t that was evolving teams do? I am sorry but we were previously bemoaning players being shit and now they aren’t. What do you put that down to? Form?

Not sure I get your jist.

Someone commented that they feel we've adjusted our all out approach from the off, and this has paid dividends in the second half with us looking stronger at the end and less tired. I agree.

Not sure how in form or out of form fits in with that observation.

The point I am making is we all over analyse everything in football today. There’s always a reason. Either players not fit enough, we’ve been sussed, or xx player is shit for instance. Fact is Managers always have changed formations and moved players around. 3 at the back, 4 at the back, wingers, pack the midfield etc. The main reason clubs fluctuate is usually form, rather than anything deep and analytical. Players form fluctuates and that is it.

I listened to Wilder recently when he said our win against Derby puts to bed some of the “noise” over us being fit enough/good enough. I agree 100 percent. We are good enough but we have to maintain our best standards, they slipped recently and now we are back at it, hence winning again.

P.S I expect both Leeds and Norwich to hit the skids soon because that is how form goes.

I think it is. I said yesterday, Blackburn would tire in the second half. They were at it at 100 miles an hour first half. As long as we don't concede, I think It is a system we can use sometimes.

I hope you're not attributing out festive upturn to Hoof?

*raised eyebrow emoji*

:)

There is an obvious 'togetherness' with this team:
Look how they rushed to Hendersons assistance when he was being mugged by Derby players? And yesterday when Billy was hacked down (red card) how Blades players ran over showing concern for a potential injury!?
I'm sure there's many more examples, but those two stick in my mind from the last two games!
