I take it super Steve position as number 1 is safe now after another superb display , he had a blip, lets get 100% behind him now
Another 12 or so clean sheets will see us up

The thing is with keepers they are only ever one bad mistake away from being awful and they don't always get the chance to redeem themselves.

I was at Orient where he lost us 2 points. Last night he can have the credit for gaining us 2 or 3 with a brilliant performance.

It's amazing what confidence does to a player, he looks a changed man, bouncing towards the fans both home and away.

He deserves a lot of credit for turning his performances around.

I think simmo felt the blades love last night. Clapping us at HT then at FT pumping his fists. Loved it. Well done Simmo, the force was strong with you last night.

I always rated Simonsen so couldn't understand the blip. Maybe was just a hangover from last season where even Lionel Messi would have looked shit in that team.

With a keeper, I guess that a significant proportion of confidence comes from knowing that you can trust the two guys at centre half. Last season was an absolute nightmare defensively so it was always going to take some time to settle down this season.

Wilson played a masterstroke taking Simonsen out of the team for the Franchise FC and Exeter games as that allowed him to have some time out of the spotlight. Alright, the decision may have cost us 2 points (Exeter at home) but in the long run it's paid back.

man of the match i think and no body can dispute that i think it has to be the first time anyone has sung his name before, should be a great boost for him for the next few weeks

In fairness, it's a long way from being that. Some people got on his back during his bad patch, but for the most part he received good support, and the particularly imaginative "He's Magic" song carried on until his performances became so poor there was a risk it might start sounding sarcastic...

I went to the Orient game as well and honestly almost can't believe that the keeper I saw at that game is the same one that has kept 8 clean sheets in the last 12 league games. He had no confidence and the fans and (it seemed) the defence had no confidence in him when he had to come and collect crosses. Now, while it is definitely not his strongest point, there's no longer the fear that he's going to completely mess up meeting a cross or high ball and he commands the six yard box a lot more, coming through a crowd to catch a dangerous cross on Tuesday night and looking assured and certain that he was going to make it.

His shot stopping has always been good but Tuesday he pulled off at least one save that he really had no right getting to, as well as making good solid stops on several other occasions.

The turn around in a player that both my dad and me thought was shot is superb and a lot of credit has to go to the manager and the coaching staff who have obviously worked hard both on his game and on his mental state. Most credit though must go to Simmo, who could have relaxed knowing we had no actual cover for him.

UTB

I think a fair bit will be knowing that if he doesn't get there or decides to not go for a cross, Collins or Maguire are likely to deal with it instead.

Credit where it's due though, he's played well recently.

Long has today signed to 2016 which is good for the club & keeps the pressure on Simmo

spot on

He deserves a lot of credit for turning his performances around.

His first game back after being dropped he played really well. We lost to Stevenage, but I rated him as our best player (not a massive triumph mind). He has been excellent since he came back. 8 clean sheets in 12 games. He has Maguire, Collins, Lowton and Lecs to thanks too, but he has been very assured. It's funny. I remember seeing a preview for the season and it said SUFC key player SS. I laughed and thought bollocks. Not that far from that now (though Collins, Ched and K Mac have been extremely valuable too).

It's the Nos effect.
Takes a while to get it out of your system

:D med me chuckle
