An ex-player and fan of Dirty, Dirty Leeds.............but let's not hold that agianst him ;)

Might be just the partner that Britton needs in central midfield. Is he a proper footballer?

Don't know pinchy, but most posters on the other board aren't impressed with him. Many sendings off. Poor temprement. Been on loan all over and no one wants him permanently.

Time will tell I suppose.

Highly rated when he went to Plymouth (they paid their record £750k for him). Gone downhill since then, bit of an attitude apparently. But could be great if we can get the best out of him.

Aye, Blackwell's brilliant at getting the best out of his players, especially when it really matters. Joke signing by joke management of a joke club.

What do you think of the Simmo signing? I don't think I've read it anywhere.

Yes he has the trophy missus.

Im more concerned about what he will bring to us footballing wise though.

He really needs to buckle down & show his abilty this season, instead of being the big i am.

Lets hops he's at the age were he will finally settle down.

Morgs will kick that out of him in training. He will find us a very different proposition to Plymouth. People can say what they like about us, but we are a proper club now-a-days...

Pretty good, good player but let's not go overboard. It is a professional football club with decent resources signing an experienced, recognised keeper and just serves to highlight the disgrace of last summer when we ended up with poor old Bunny.

Why was it a disgrace that we ended up with Bunn?

Bad signing - Blackwell's fault, good signing - professional club with decent resources

Yesterday we were a "joke club" with "joke management".

Make up your mind.

Give it a rest for christs sake!
If i were you i would seriously try doing something else other than following the Blades.
Why follow something that makes you this miserable ALL THE TIME?

What are you lot on about? Where did I say we were a well run professional football club?

I must say, I don't get it Mic. Like you, I was terribly disappointed with ongoings last season. But it has gone. I support the club so criticising is, and should be, uncomfortable. Last season has finished and we start again. We've made some half decent signings (given there is no money, if you haven't noticed?) and there's strong reasons to believe we're going to try and play a different style. There's plenty to be optimistic about, unless you're determined to think otherwise - but that's surely not a happy place to be.

Len's cornered the market in rank attention seeking. You need to carve a new niche.....:)

Yes Paddy was a disgrace and we were forced to get in a loanee.

Fair enough Alco. Totally accept what you are saying except the bit about optimism. There is no optimism for me about SUFC for as long as Blackwell is in charge - simple as that, and I appreciate why others would think so but it doesn't mean I am some deranged, depressed lunatic. I detest Blackwell as a manager and I enjoy posting on here and again it is as simple as that. It is nowt to do with a determination to be miserable. Unfortunately you've only known me since August 2009 and that has coincided with in my opinion some of the most dire football ever witnessed at BDTBL.

I'm pretty sure you would also be chuffed to see him sacked and I'm afraid I aint going to be massively impressed about signings like Ertl and Walton on loan. Britton and Simmo yes - very pleased. I don't enjoy watching loan players and I want to see some hunger and desire from some young Blades wanting to improve themselves. I have no expectations of winning every week and if you take away my crap and rhetoric on here I'd like to think we'd have very similar views about SUFC and just possibly get on with eachother.

I don't think there is any real hope about a change of style if Monty plays for us either.

Forced to get a loanee? You don't half swallow some rubbish that comes out of the McCabe spin department. Anyway, fair enough, as Alco says, it has gone and lets be thankful and give credit to the club as a whole for getting Simmo.

Oh sorry you are in the pay a couple of million and tie ourselves into a contract to cover one of our highest earners who would be back in a few months camp.

Other than sign upto that, how could we not use the loan market to cover Paddys error. What would of been your solution, apart from blame the board eitherway of course?

Ok, fair enough. McCabe was/is so skint he had to give in to Paddy and if you accept that, I accept we had to sign a loan keeper. Unfortunately, he was diabolically bad, in my opinion anyway.

If I think about it hard enough, I'm far from convinced that Blackwell can bring about an effective and pleasing style of play. But as I want to think good things about my club, I've decided to not think about it hard enough. Sometimes the club will do things so badly that even then, it's impossible not to be negative. For now, optimism prevails.

The change of style was evident towards the end of last season. But let's not be too simplistic - change of style doesn't in itself equal effective and entertaining football. Direct football can be immensely entertaining if done right. I digress. The players we've brought in (Boggy, Britton) enforce my belief that we're trying to change things. And Monty was an integral part of an impressive promotion winning side not too long ago.

For now, I'm happy. Why don't you just try it?
