Outgoing? Simon Moore

It would be a good move for him.

Still backup, just on more money.

Can't blame him if he wants to go.

Be interesting to hear CW's thoughts but if I was Moore I'd be peed off at not getting games thanks to a succession of loan keepers.

May as well warm someone elses bench for a nice pay rise and a signing on fee.

Can't see the problem really - Blackman was no 1 last season.

Henderson appears to have the nod this season, especially how CW has bigged him up.

Moore is now in the last year of his contract with us - it's just that football has evolved following the Bosman issue with players contracts.

If Henderson is as good as people/pundits say, then Moore is a bench warmer - does a 28 yo want warm the bench? probably not, but if he is to warm it at West Brom then at least do it for more money. He only rents in Sheffield, so has no permanent ties with the City.

.......................anyway - it means a new GK thread, or 10 :D

And as a bizarre coincidence, going from being back-up to a Man United loanee to back-up to a Man United loanee. Strong goalkeeping department at Old Trafford.

They signed Johnstone permanently, for £6.5m. Which seems like a good deal for the long run.

I'd also suggest they should at least give us our money back on Moore (about 500k).

Wouldn't be concerned and would completely understand from his point of view too.

He is a midtable keeper at the very best in my opinion, unless he's got an amazing defence in front of him obviously, and is behind the loanees coming in consistently now, also a bit more injury prone last season if I'm remembering right so maybe a fat new contract somewhere with parachute payments would be a good move.

Obviously a good lad but can't say I was blown away by his performances throughout last season

If he wants to play games I'm not sure West Brom is the best place to head but if he wants to boost his bank balance it may well be.

I'd have no issue with him wanting to go for either reason to be honest but it would create yet another gap that requires filling as I don't think Eastwood would be quite ready to step-in should anything happen to Henderson

How good is this Henderson fellow, anyway? I know fuck all about him apart from that he was at Shrewsbury last year. I thought he was coming in to be backup to Moore and maybe take his place if he pushed enough...

NIce guy.

A bit Graham Benstead for me.

Ok to get us up but clearly Wilder sees better keepers out there.

Really clearing the decks!

Not comfortable with a loan keeper as our only No1. Can be recalled in Jan

Our only permanent keeper being Eastwood

Unless he isn’t playing there is no way Man U will recall him in Jan, he’s about 5th choice there.

Not bothered if Moore goes, think he is bang average to be fair. Even in L1 he wasn't great, he just had a bloody good defence in front of him.

and I could understand hime being a bit pissed off, young Henderson comes in and is given the No1 jersey....ouch....

GLTTL.

I reckon it would be closer to £1m.

Moore benefited from replacing Long & Howard, who were both extremely avaerage for us on the whole. He was very good at L1 level, but has been ok at best at this level, and didn’t seize the opportunity to make the position his own when Blackman was out of the side.

It’s a position though that I don’t think we can be too complacent on though – Eastwood is largely untested, Long already virtually out the door, if Moore goes I think it would be a gamble to add no further cover.

Either way, he isn't our player and can be recalled in Jan or could be injured. We leave ourselves vulnerable with young Jake our only permanent signing GK

I'm hoping CW is to replace Moore with another signng

How many are we up to now?

GK
CB
Attacking MF
Striker x 2

5 minimum for me. Need to get cracking

We won’t sign 5 forget it. 3 at most

Well, Henderson is our first GK anyway, so if West Brom is willing to pay a good amount of money, I don't think this is a big problem.

But then our GK who may be influential in this season is a loanee? What happens after next year and we don't have Moore, Henderson or Blackman?

Wouldn’t be happy if we were to let him go. You need three senior keepers on the books at all times. The idea of Jake Eastwood as our only other keeper doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Easier said than done. A 28 year old keeper in his prime is not going to want to sit on the bench all season.

We could get another loan? Premier League clubs aren’t going to suddenly stop having affordable young keepers in need of a season-long loan.

Great deal, if true. Eastwood is more than capable as an understudy with Henderson almost certain to be #1. Should Henderson pick up an injury we'd be eligible for an emergency loan too*.

*assuming Long leaves.

I think he's a decent goalkeeper. Not outstanding, but decent. I don't mind if he leaves though. I don't mind if any of them leave tbh. I only mind about who we bring in to replace them.
