OK the team did not turn up tonight - perhaps they think they have already qualified for the play offs Perhaps they are trying to negotiate the last few league games without getting injured Perhaps Yeovil players wanted to win more than we did Who Knows ? All I do know is that there are so many So Called Blades wanting to get on the back of the manager - we are currently 5th in the league and on stream for a play off place - we should all be getting behind the players and the manager - we shall see over the next six games (hopefully) if the players have the balls, the manager has the tactical nous and the team is successful in it's quest for promotion - all I do know is that I for one am sick and tired of the negative, so called supporters that think we just have to turn up to win - having watched the Blades for over 50 years I have seen the downs and ups, the play offs, the semi finals, the last match relegations, the promotions the lot - but I always believe !
Up until the end of the season Either get behind the team or butt out - We don't want or need you until the end result !
If we don't go up then yes Mr Clough has to answer - Until then let's Unite and go forward as a team and we shall triumph !

To be fair we have just lost against a team who were 9 points adrift at the bottom of the league. It's obvious that people are going to be asking why this has happened. Especially at the end of a season where we are 14 points off the top 2 despite being favourites to win the league and despite having brought in over 20 players.

I don't think many (if any) of us go to the games and boo. What people do is come on here and rant after a poor performance. It's not negativity to wonder where things are going wrong after such a poor performance and disappointing season. Everyone of us will be hoping we put in three displays in the play offs that see us up and 99% of us will be cheering them on. You can't turn off your thoughts and feelings though and an awful lot of us believe results like tonight sum up why we are destined to fail. It's better to air these views here rather than on the terraces surely?

Who said we were favourites? Apart from lazy journalists who had seen us go on a great cup run. Will Bradford be favourites next season?
Yeah, we really didn't deserve the favourites tag. We didn't have our 3 best players from last season back in August or a decent striker. That was barmy.

I don't like over-reactions to results where we're unlucky or where the performance is generally good, but when even NC himself says everyone bar Brayford were poor to a man then it's pretty clear that criticism for that game is fully justified. I've done the trip to Yeovil from London on a weekend and thought Huish Park was a pain to get to - my sympathies are with anyone that travelled down from Sheffield on a weeknight for that. I'm annoyed reading about it halfway around the world - I'd likely be furious had I done that trip tonight.

At this stage, I'm just hoping we make the playoffs and that from the 1st minute of the first semi-final the team flips a switch into Cup Team approach. I'm not sure if it's an arrogance from the players. One theory post-Crewe was that the players can't take the pressure from playing in front of a nervy Bramall Lane crowd. We're truly doomed if they can't playing in front of a Yeovil crowd coming to terms with relegation.

Last night's performance was probably a mixture of all the reasons you quote but the problem is, we can't just switch on form and confidence. Chezzie, MKD, and even after a couple of setbacks Swindon are all buzzing at the moment whereas we certainly are not.

We've seen all season that we seem to have a run of 2 or 3 games, then a setback, repeat, then repeat. I fully appreciate NC's problem with injuries and trying to keep our best team as fit as we can for the games that matter but there's no excuse for a team not seemingly trying which seemed to be the case last night. The fans have every right to question this, it's not negativity. The same fans will be there cheering from the start on Saturday but if the players don't put a shift in and respond, we all know what's going to happen.

So we're the only team who gets injuries? Unless it's down to poor physical conditioning, there's absolutely no reason why we should have so many injuries (unless it's 'Tinkerman' justifying his ever-baffling team selections.)

Chesterfield sold their stand-out striker. Still got 6 last night.

Rochdale sold us Done (good signing). There's every chance they'll still run us very close for a play-off place.

Any more from 'Nigel's Big Book of Excuses'?

Ah yes. 'They parked the bus.' So if a team goes ahead at, say Bristol, Preston, MKD, any team in the western world, can we be assured they run out the red carpet and say 'After you, Claude.'? Of course they fucking don't. It's just another bullshit excuse. As is...

'It's their Cup Final.' So a bunch of players who've spent most of their career at a much lower level, in front of paltry crowds and low expectations suddenly 'turn it on'? That description applies to most of our team.

What a load of bollocks Fiery with all due respect. I noticed that quite a few of the" so called Blades" who went to Yeovil getting on the back of the Manager and with bloody good cause. I'm sure the 400 odd who went to the match were behind the Blades and look how they were rewarded. As for supporters thinking that we just have to turn up to win, I think it is the team that are displaying that mentality right now. Yes we are currently 5th and should make the play offs, for which we should be thankful, but our chances of even making the final are miniscule with these set of half hearted drips who are currently wearing the shirt ( one or two excepted). Big hats off to those that went by the way.

How many minor setbacks to we have to endure Pittsburg ?.

True. People can't have it both ways. We, the fans, the only ones who should escape this debacle of a season without criticism, are often accused (by some) of 'lack of passion' at home games. When we suffer yet another humiliating defeat, our outrage is roundly criticised.

It's passion. We're not fucking automatons.

So we're the only team who gets injuries? Unless it's down to poor physical conditioning, there's absolutely no reason why we should have so many injuries (unless it's 'Tinkerman' justifying his ever-baffling team selections.)

One of the problems is that two of his key players, Davies and Coutts, both came here with long term injuries behind them and he seems to want to play them regardless. Add to that the 'niggling' injuries to Flynn, Done and Kennedy and he does have a problem. Last season we pretty much had a settled team and you could see the difference.

Is it the club's fault, NC's fault, training, who knows but the fact is it's happened and we're having to put out players who aren't fully fit and changing the team regularly.

If there were any doubts over some of them last night he shouldn't have played them, he could have started Alcock at CB (where he started the season well), put the 1.5M right back where he should be, rested Coutts and Davies but then again he'd have been accused of 'tinkering' so it's a no win situation if we lose. The fact that the players who did play last night let him down has only made the situation worse.

Excuses, facts, somewhere in the middle.

Perhaps if there are any culprits start looking at the players - is the desire there, is the heart there, is the effort there - the 'supporters ' want it, obviously the manager wants it, the board want it - it's the players that are letting down the fans !

I can’t believe your arrogance and tone my friend.

“So called Blades”, let’s be clear then is anyone who disagrees with you and / or displays anything other than mindless, blind patriotism?

When we got back here this morning at nearly 3am and having watched the biggest load of crap I’ve seen all season [home and away] I have to say I was feeling pretty negative too. They didn’t ‘nick’ it from us, they out played us in almost every department – and to make it worse, they themselves actually looked like a team that had been relegated.

It’s understandable that folk are going to harbor negative opinions after the shower of shit we were served up last night – it was truly awful. Accept we can do without the booing arse holes, etc, but equally, we can do without the “fuck off to S6” brigade like you.

There’s nothing wrong with having an opinion, even if it’s different to yours.

Live with it or why don’t you “butt out”

Up the fucking Blades

So now it's the players fault. Last night it was the fans.

You lot on here are mealy mouthed excuses of fans with no conviction, belief or desire to achieve promotion - just looking for automatic promotion because we are Sheffield United FC - you lot should go over to S6 - You seem to have their ideology or Massive this and Massive that - Face the real world !
Pathetic excuses for fans but you will be still there clammouring after Play Off Final tickets - You make me sick !

Let me know when you get round to the manager. ;)

I'm not feeling very positive after last night, after Crewe, Peterborough and Fleetwood etc etc so if I will admit that if you aren't feeling

* For the 500 who travelled to Somerset last night
* Embarrassed and humiliated by the nature of the defeat against a relegated team
* Concerned that the Blades may yet again conspire to create disaster from triumph
* Bemused that we managed last night to play a back 4 entirely out of position
* Frustrated at the level of inconsistency
* Doubt about the form and effectiveness of a Manager and team that have dropped 20 points out of the last 36
* Not confident that getting to the play-offs is a certainty - let alone getting through them

you are a Bigger Blade. Hope you are Happy now - I'm one of the other seven dwarves - Dopey I think. :(

Take it you dont sit on the kop then Roy?

Theres a fair few near me who definitly go to boo and generaly spit bile at any opportunity

Sorry, I meant the people who post on here. I think on the whole the views are worries are quite measured. I know what you mean by those who boo at the slightest thing and they don't help but my post was in relation to the criticism of people who complain on here. I think letting your worries and frustrations out on a message board is much more healthy than letting it out in the stands

Nothing to do with who is a 'Bigger Blade' as you put it but more about pulling together to get the team over the line via the Play Offs
Whilst I didn't go last night and I do have sympathy with the hardy 500+ that did make the journey but, unfortunately that is football, that is sport !
Occasionally, the bottom team does beat the top, sometimes upsets occur, Bradford City beat Chelsea away, Sunderland home in the cup yet got dicked 0-6 last night - shit happens ! What shouldn't happen is when the team put in an below par performance that the so called 'fans' get on the back of the manager and the players - I believe that whilst the squad have talent their heart and desire must be questioned but that is for the end of the season when, if the team do fail to get promotion then the manager and players must face some hard questions but until then we need to move forward as a unit Team, Management, Board and Fans !

Having seen United perform very well against the likes of QPR, Tottenham, Southampton they are more than capable of winning the Play Offs against the likes of Swindon, MK Dons, Chesterfield, Rochdale but, and this is a big but everybody has to do their bit!

And yet people have the temerity to complain about a defeat against already-relegated Yeovil Town.....

Nothing to do with Blind Patriotism more to do with being realistic - we have not performed consistently well this season I agree, yet, we are still in the Play Off places and I would bet now that Rochdale and any other side looking to make the play offs would swap with us in an instant !
As we are in the play off places we should be looking at pulling together, no one has a divine right to win and I would hazard a guess that Bradford fans would never have dreamt that despite beating Chelsea fair and square in their own back yard would be on the end of a 0-6 dicking at home by Bristol City !
We are where we are, we have the players and management we have, no good carping on about our lot in life we just have to get on with it - slagging off all and sundry will not get us anywhere - I agree that we could and should have done better but we are a third division side of four years standing and there is a reason for that - if the players could reproduce their potential form week in week out they wouldn't be playing in the Third Division - they can't and that is why we struggle some weeks against what is perceived to be inferior opposition !
I for one get heartily sick of some of the insipid performances the team have given this year but, as I said before we are where we are and we need to make the best of it - Not whinge and whine when things do not go to plan ! There is plenty of time to do that at the end of the season !!!

I never realised you were such a fan of my ramblings going back to 2009 - Fantastic !!
Perhaps I have mellowed in my old age

PS Never really liked Wilson or Blackwell !
