Should Warnock have gone when he did?

Playing devil's advocate here but I thought the situation you now find yourselves in might yield interesting responses. Should you have parted company with Neil Warnock when you did?

In the other thread I started, the main thing that people seemed to be missing was passion. Which is something you had in abundance with Warnock. He might have annoyed a lot of other managers but many of us outsiders could do nothing but admire his committment.

Why weren't more steps made to keep Warnock and maybe move him upstairs?

I think he'd had his time.
The choice of successor was a poor one so it makes his departure look like a mistake.
I believe that it was the right decision to get someone new in, just the wrong choice of who it should be.

It was time for him to go.

We really did choose the wrong person to takeover from him.

I thought at the time a change of manager might have done us good, something new, a fresh start for the club. But with hindsight, he may have been the perfect man to pick the team's spirit back up from a relegation that shouldn't have been. Warnock knew how to motivate a team well, it helped us overcome one of the final hurdles on the road to promotion when we had a poor February and March.

As much as i liked Warnock, I thought it was time for him to go, get a younger manager in ans someone who would be around for a few years more than Warnock stated he would stay for:)

Possibly, but Harry was a great motivator too, yet seemed broken. It was a totally different set up then though.

Perhaps a change was right (though personally I didn't want to see it), but what is indisputable is that Sornob was the wrong choice, and we all knew it when he was appointed.

If there is one single strand of sympathy I have for him, it's that he was always going to suffer the same sort of fate as John Major.

I'm no Tory, by any stretch of the imagination, but look at the act he had to follow. He was doomed from the start. Even winning a General Election couldn't get him any respect.

The two (Warnock & Robson) are two totally different managers ... Had we not been so used to Warnocks style - ambushing any chance of the opponents playing football, pissing off his opposite number to such an extent they just sit down, and simply fighting for that goal to save our skin, then I dare say Robsons lack of passion would not be so obvious

I honestly can see a difference - NOT AN IMPROVEMENT - but a difference ... Im not one to slag Robson off purely because I appreciate his intentions ... Hes attracted young, promising players (OK we didnt keep Cahill/Bardsley) but its something Warnock would not have been able to do ... Its evident the players are not as committed as they were just 9 months ago but as a player myself, I understand, nobodyplays football not wanting to win the game ... Therefore it could be down to Robson and his inability to motivate and influence the players or simply he hasnt had enough time

Either way - he stays or he goes - Theres not many amazing managers out there who would rush into signing for us ... I wouldnt rush into kicking him out just yet - after all, we are above the pigs!

Now thats all we can expect coz as it stands to have any hope of the play offs we would need to win atleast 11 of the last 14 to stand ANY chance of being in the top 6 come the end of the season.

Personally I think Warnock should have been given the season but I can also see from the other side if he had done as well as Robson- Warnock would have also felt the venom of the fans.

Robson was never my choice- he just does not inspire with confidence- he has relegated clubs. okay he got promoted with Boro but that was a long time ago and the Championship has changed a lot since then.

Erm.. was he sacked? I always thought he left on his own accord :S

Warnock had done his best and ultimately it wasn't good enough. He made some real errors in the run-in that cost us our place in the Premiership. Yes, I know he got us there but he also took as straight back. Was definitely the right time to bring someone new in. Making the wrong decision on the new boss just made Warnock look better!
