A word of caution

A good read and worth keeping in mind :(

One thing is a cert though... last year we played 2 games a week and we were still fit enough to go for 90 mins - this season it's practically only 1 game a week and no way will we burn out with the tactical game that we now employ.

I can remember fatigue kicking in during the latter stages of games during our first season back in the Championship - the second season we were more conservative in our approach and stayed the course during games. This season we are even more cautious a can see out a game very easily stamina wise.

Conclusion? - we will finish mid table because of:

A: We have had a fantastic start and have already nearly accumulated 50% of our expected points total.
B: We are probably the fittest team in the division (no bullshit)
C: The management team and players want this more than anything
D: Our system - I am extremely confident that it just cannot be countered on a regular basis. It is to unpredictable for the opposition to work out. It is so fluid and any of our players can find themselves anywhere means that players can't be tracked without causing mayhem for the opposing teams' formation. They only have the option of a fast counter attack but we are expecting that and have adjusted accordingly.

Imagine how good this team could be playing the same formation and tactics but with far superior players added :p

Enjoy Blades, Enjoy

I'm quite enjoying the fact I'm going to Spurs on Saturday with no expectation but in the knowledge that if both teams' performances match those recently, then we have a decent chance of a result.

I know this is a bit out there but I don't feel the need to wipe my cock on the curtains whilst exclaiming how I knew we'd piss the Premier League, nor get my End is Nigh A board from the loft.

UTB. May your Tufty go with you.

Getting into the Europa League would be very dangerous for us. We do not have the squad depth to be able to cope with the stupid amount of games a tad of success in the Europa League would mean. Survival in the prem is a must as we continue to improve window on window. If we are still in the prem say in 3 seasons time then we might have the strength in the squad to be able to cope with Europa and Premier League games.

As for the Hull references, the big difference between us and Hull that season is our defensive game. No team has even been close to giving us a tonking. We can grind out results if we have to. We are also very strong mentally - we won't buckle if things go against us. I am sticking with my pre-season prediction of 45-50 points and never in any serious danger of going down.

Totally agree. My prediction from the beginning as been mid table comfort...then once staying up is assured in Match time we gradually slip and finish just below mid table.

Another danger of being in the Europa Cup is that it draws more and more attention to Chris Wilder, so the more likely a big club will want him.

Obviously I want us to beat Spurs but if we win on Saturday you can bet the hype train will be looking at Wilder asking “is he the real deal”! No doubt Mr Click bait attention seeking Adrian Durham will be asking on the radio “is Chris Wilder the new Alex Ferguson and should Man Utd be sacking Olli and headhunting Wilder for the top job”

Whereas if we lose to Spurs, it will be “normal service resumed”, “told you that Wilder and Sheff Utd will be a relegation threatened team”.

So daft as it sounds losing to Spurs could be a blessing in disguise.

Best way to look at it. Its natural to revise up or down expectations as the season goes on but people really do just need to enjoy this moment in our history while it lasts and no need to get too far ahead of ourselves (not to have a pop at the OP who is merely circulating an article).

All i'm really arsed about is the next game and even if we get pumped 4-0 then so what. Given recent results its now likely that we could get a result at Spurs, doesn't mean we 'should' or 'have to'.

Wilder is setting the standards and the push for continual improvement which is why we are exceeding expectations, in this scenario its for the fans to simply back the club and enjoy the ride.

Premier League narrative churn is one of the worst things about being in this league. In the championship you can lose a couple on the bounce and its a blip. Everything at this level is dissected to within an inch of its life because somebody somewhere needs to consume some content.

If we win Saturday people will be talking about Wilder for the Man U (or even Tottenham) jobs. Lose and its all about how we've had a reality check, he's been found out and the squad shows how limited it is.

I get what you are saying mate - although I'm still desperate to beat Spurs 😜

The one major question mark about Wilder is he hasn't got any experience or evidence to say that he can handle big time charlie foreign players. Pogba for example was instrumental in Mourinho getting the chop ..... imagine if somebody like Wilder was having a hard time sorting out the charlies.

I do think though if we continue to improve and bring in more foreign players then it will only be a matter of time before somebody does take a punt on Wilder. Another 2 or 3 seasons of mediocrity while their neighbours and the Scousers are having continued success and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Man U came calling - especially if Fergie becomes a Wilder fan.

Cue people saying ..... I can smell pork! 😂
