When I said I didn't like it, especially the back, the lad in the shop said a plain back was a football league stipulation for next season. He didn't sound over convincing though.

I agree with all you say mate, but to be in a position where fans may feel the need to put numbers on a kit ''to make it look better" is ridiculous isn't it. Shows how much dislike there is for the strip.

As for the stripes on the back EFL issue, it could be nonsense, it could not. Let's watch Sunderland, Brentford, Stoke etc with interest...

Stoke has stripes on the back. So does West Brom I think. Adidas statement "We are aware that Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion will incorporate their traditional stripes on the back of the shirts for the upcoming season, however it is our understanding that these will not be visible due to the wearing of parachutes by the recently relegated clubs".

Go back to what I call the Deano kit[/QUOTE]

And a Deano to go with it.

I've voted for stripes on both shirt and sleeves, red on socks and sponsors name black. There is no way the Club will change anything but registering the negativity around the shirt, as its considerable, is important so good luck Kozzy.

The Club can't be blamed for Adidas ridding rough shod over clubs with Stripes but they should seriously consider whether they want to remain with a kit manufacturer that does not take into account the wishes of its customers. Even then whichever genius thought white back and sleeves was preferable to a red back needs to go to specsavers. All it has done is make us look like Derby and Preston when we are attacking the oppositions goal.

Where the Club have scored an own goal is with the Ramsdens logo, the highest score on this poll so far. That is something they could have controlled and avoided the shirt looking like a multi coloured swap shop by insisting Ramsdens continued with the black lettering they were using when they sponsored the Smoggies last season. Sounds like this sponsorship deal was a last minute rush job that will ultimately cost the Club lost revenue in terms of shirt sales.

There may not a lot they can do about it, but it should never have been picked in the first place. The apathetic attitude about there being another one next year is frankly pathetic, the club's colours are part of its identity and having a shirt that laregly rejects that is worth complaining about, otherwise they'll just dish out more white shite in future if everyone just accepts any old crap they call a home kit.

Adidas may have insisted on the plain back, but in the absence of stripes, the most important thing that the club could actually have controlled is to use red numbers. The Adkins kit did at least have red shorts and socks, so despite being non-traditional meant we were at least playing in red and white. This is just white from behind and black numbers and a lack of red trim on the shorts and socks means it looks nothing like United from the back.

One of the plain red-backed shirts had black numbers the first time it appeared at the end of the previous season, but they were replaced with white numbers when it was properly launched so it was still red and white on both sides. There's past form for changing a bad sponsor logo too, with one of the Visit Malta kits swapping from a white box to a black box (the Ramsdens mess would have looked better as a green box with white letters if it had to feature green).

Agree with you both, wholeheartedly - both are good sets of points, well made. It's about bringing it back to what could be changed, within reason perhaps.

It really isn't difficult though, is it? Adidas messed up big time on this one.

I've voted above but the biggest thing for me is the god awful big white box around the sponsor. It is never the same white as the shirt and looks even more different with age.

I much prefer just a small white border around the lettering as they did with the Alpharooms and Teletext Holidays sponsor logos.

I saw one kid wearing the new kit in Asda on Queens Rd today. The reverse blank canvas of the shirt was filled in with the lad's name and a number.

In other news, today I saw Billy Sharp get some money from the cash machine on Cherry Street.

I will consider buying one end of April for the play off final at Wembley, as I said before it would automatically become a classic, looking at the pictures from the friendly the other night we look like two different teams, ah that's it, we are going to confuse the opposition, they won't know who to mark, clever clever stuff , great kit

Bristol paper has scored this years championship kits. We are described as woeful with 1/10 rating.

If you saw this kit from the front, it would be a typical, unremarkable Sheffield United kit. The back, though, makes this feel like two different kits sewn together, along with an incredibly tacky logo - it makes it look like the players would be working at Doordeals, rather than playing football. Bizarre choice.

Rating: 1/10

A perfect summary of everything that’s wrong with it.

Out of interest, is last year’s kit still available to buy anywhere?

Well, I've now had a reply from the club, which is pleasing. The only issue is, I'd never expected one so I'm not quite sure what to say now! :D

I get the impression the club have been selecting black as a cost saving exercise (although they had white for the purple shirt last season) and red would have looked good for both kits if yellow is to be the away shirt colour.

How much cheaper are black numbers compared to red?

From a quick online shopping adventure, they're not.

I'm an individual buying one number but I don't think it'd be any different if you scaled up the orders.

Maybe we chose black this season for ease (can use them on both kits obviously) but I don't think it was because we're tight.

Fair play to you Kozzy, let us know what you do say.

I don't think this season's is an abomination like some, but I do agree it'd be better with stripes on the back.

With that in mind I'd be asking what the chances of anything happening this season are, whether it's feasible to get stripes on the back and offer a discount to people who already have one (with a receipt obviously), or the likelihood of the sponsor transfer changing.

If it sounds like that's not happening, maybe float the idea of a vote on next seasons kit. That'd be hard to do what with living in the Boaty McBoatface generation, but it's an idea. Maybe they can put it in the program with a number to text, Big Brother style.

It might possibly limit the Wendy fans ability to vote for the worst one.

Exactly the same price i'd guess. Just you're then buying 2 sets of letters and numbers, thus creating more waste if you don't sell /use them all. If a third kit is created which requires white numbers letters, then that's 3 full sets of different colours If the EFL then change their charity partner (as this year ) or we get promoted we then have to buy into a whole new set of numbers /letters.
But I think you knew all that already! My main point was that the shirt would have looked much better with red numbers /names due to the distinct lack of red on the back /sleeves of the shirt. Again, I think you knew that already too.

If United get promoted to the Premier League I’d say a new bundle of letters in the club shop would be the least of their concerns :D

Absolutely :D, however, in all other scenarios mentioned penny pinching reigns. In my opinion!

Unless you know where there's a buy one colour set, get another colour set free. If you do tell the club to get red for the home kit.
