....for one of Burton's better players in January?

I am thinking either Lucas Aikins or Jackson Irvine, both of whom would really add something to our squad.

I can see both Clough and the Beard being up for making a deal. The bigger stumbling block might be persuading the Burton players to drop down a league, however I can't imagine that their wage structure is better than ours and of we are still in the top 2 come January then the players could be persuaded to make a brief detour back into league 1 before playing in the Championship again next season. Aikins was also there last season and let's be honest, Burton are far from safe from being relegated anyway.

There might be a slight cost either way in terms of respective transfer values but I think we could sort something.

What do you reckon?

Can't take Brayford away from his daddy, that'd be cruel.

Precisely, they are made for eachother and it also appears that the Burton supporters highly rate the Beard as well. The question is whether Clough values him more than the other players I mentioned.

I wouldn't be surprised if we try and use him to broker a deal.

I'm not familiar myself with the two players mentioned, but if they can add something to the squad I'm all for it. The only scenario I don't really want is Brayford returning.

I reckon Irvine would romp league 1 and based on his goals tally in the Championship so far would represent a great piece of forward planning. Aikin scored the winner for them at the Lane last season. Strong and pacy, something we could definitely use for the run in.

It's like the girlfriend that you've split up with, but still wish everything was fine.

You'd like to try again, but you know it won't work.

As long as we get rid of him I don't care much. Clough spent 2 million on that.

He has 18 months left doesn't he? Why not just leave him there for the season and if we go up with the expanded budget, play him. Branford is a very good Championship level right back and it sounds like he's got his form back.

How's that Irvine fella performing in the Championship? We were linked with him pre-season

Anyone done a player watch on one of our ex targets?

7 goals so far, their top scorers. Zero assists though.

Still not too shabby.

I'm inclined to agree, however it seems that our wonderful Tuftmeister can get average players (or good players that had a bad year) up to speed again. Look at Coutts, Scougs and Freeman for example. What if he was able to do that with The Beard? Imagine Brayford on his 2014 cup run form. That'd be worth it.

If Burton let Irvine go that would be them sealing their own relegation, that having been said maybe it's time for United to play hardball with somebody else (Burton) for a change, enough people have had our trousers down over the years.

If there's any swap to be done it's with McFadzean.

Clough would definitely swap him for his lovely Brayford. McFadzean's lack of discipline has pissed Clough off recently, and I think we're still interested in him.

The problem would be Brayford's wages. Would Burton commit to paying them for another year?

Whatever Brayford's form when he left, he's a Championship player, he's worth money, and plays in the position we need cover for.

Fortunately Freeman's turned around so much that we can do what we want with Brayford but we should still get what he's worth in exchange, and I'm not sure if Burton would be willing to trade players to that value.

Sign an ill disciplined player when Wilder seems to have got some spirit back? In case we don't get EEL? I'd hope for someone better.

"lovely Brayford"

Isn't about time you gave over with the childish comments about him? It's pathetic.

Didn't say I wanted McFadzean.

Why don't you go and tell everybody else off who takes the piss out of the Clough/Brayford relationship?

What was your point then?

It's not a daily occurrence from anyone else and you've been going on about it non stop for months. You've virtually written the blokes career off anyway and seem desperate that we give him away for free or next to nothing so you can preen yourself as to how right you were, ignoring the fact that if we'd signed all your stats based dogshit recommendations we'd have blown a hell of a lot more than we have on Brayford seeing as most of them have dropped divisions like a stone. A blind man could have spotted your odd decent pick, the speculative ones have all been useless most at levels below ours.

You got pulled up yesterday over your suggested front pairing for this season for example.

As I said, it's pathetic and very very strange, but it's not like you've not had obsessions about individuals before.

You really need to stop getting so wound up over nothing.

My point about McFadzean is that, errrr..... it's the most likely swap deal with Brayford.

It's not a daily occurrence from me. I'm just the one you notice.

I hope we get as much as we can for Brayford. I'm just sure it won't be more than 300k.

You only seem to remember the bad ones like Higdon and Hall. They have nothing to do with Brayford obviously but it's been a while since you've shoehorned this into anything so I'll let you off.

I can't get my head round why people wouldn't want Brayford back.

Without sounding like I'm descending into a beardy-love-fest, he's a cracking player and better than every other RB in this league.

Based on the 'Wilder effect' on the likes of Coutts, who's to say that the boss couldn't have Brayford playing better than Clough ever did?

I'd take that, wouldn't you?

Personally if he came back I think he would make a great right sided cb in 3, capable of overlapping Freeman.

That being said, I don't think it's likely and his wages would be better spent elsewhere.

It went under the radar a bit this weekend (or at least I haven't seen it anywhere), but it was the AGM on Saturday and KM did a Q and A at the end.

One of the questions was about Brayford and KM stated that he wanted to leave us and go back to Clough at Burton, we didn't force him out based on his wages.

If that's the case, I'm not sure CW will want someone back for the run in who appears to have already made it clear he doesn't want to be here. A shame mind, because pre injury Brayford would have been ideal rotation with Freeman in the 3-4-1-2.
