Barnsley manager Andy Ritchie has denied reports suggesting he is trying to bring Sheffield United striker Neil Shipperley to the club.
Shipperley is being allowed to leave Bramall Lane on loan and speculation claimed Ritchie would try to bring the 31-year-old back to Oakwell.
The Championship outfit are keen to add another striker to their ranks after failing to do so before the transfer window shut last month.
Clubs outside The Premiership can now sign players on loan and Ritchie has confirmed he has begun his search for attacking reinforcements.
However, the Barnsley chief has ruled out the possibility of Shipperley arriving from The Blades.
"The loan window is now back open and we are still looking for a striker," Ritchie told the club's official website.
"We were searching before the end of last month but we will not just bring someone in for the sake of it. We also have targets to go for should we pick up any injuries.
"I am not interested in Neil Shipperley at all at the moment although he is a good player.
"Marc Richards is a young Neil Shipperley as I see it and we are looking for a different type of striker."
Meanwhile, Ritchie has confirmed he has received calls from a number of clubs over youngster Nathan Jarman's availability.
Graham Rodger's Grimsby are one club looking to sign Jarman but Ritchie says he will not be letting any players leave at the moment.
He added: "We have had a number of teams ask about taking our younger players out on loan and Nathan Jarman is one that a lot have phoned about.
"Grimsby were one of those teams but there has been nothing further than an initial phone call.
"At the moment we have to make sure that we do not just loan out a lot of our players because we still have to field a reserve team and we do not want to push our academy youngsters too hard.
"We have to make sure they develop in the right way and making them play two games a week is not the best way of doing that."
