The club is... Valerenga

And the price i would imagine wont be more than half we paid for him
750k i think

We should get rid. He's not exactly set the world alight, has he?

I can hear a few out there shouting "Yes, but he's got pace!"
So has a greyhound, and greyhounds would probably be better at passing the ball too.

Luton Shelton is getting closer to a move to Norway side Valerenga, and a deal could be done by the end of the week.

The Jamaican who arrived in January 2007 has failed to cement a place in the Blades team and has spent most of his Blades time sat in the stands. Shelton wasn't match fit when he joined & didn't make his debut until the season was almost over. When he did, he lit of the Theatre of Dreams, leaving Sky Pundits and even his own manager Neil Warnock stunned at the performance he put in against the would be champions.

Shelton played a bit part role towards the end of the season, and many expected him to start the 2007/08 season in fine form after a full pre season. Unfortunately, things didn't quite work out that way and Shelton was rarely seen except for 2 goals against Morecambe in the Carling Cup. Things appeared to be looking up for Shelton at the beggining of 2008 and he scored his first league goal at Colchester in a 2-2 draw. He also scored a controversial goal in the 4th round of the FA Cup against Manchester City with the help of some blue & white balloons.

But with the departure of Bryan Robson, went Shelton's chances of more first team football. Kevin Blackwell persisted with Billy Sharp and Shelton found his opportunities even more limited.

Shelton's talents were summed up when he came on as a substitute at Middlesborough, twice beating men, with quick footwork and pace, only for the resulting cross to end up at the back of the stand.

Velerenga, are a well respected side in Norway, who boast players such Ronny Johnsen, a treble winner with Manchester United.

The fee is unknown at the moment, but when he was linked with Leeds United earlier in the summer the numbers being brandished about were in the £750,000 region. It's a far cry from the fee close to £2million that United paid, but has to be better than him sitting in the stands for the rest of his contract.

Personnally I would get rid- pace but nothing else and his first touch is shocking

its £750k better than nothing and him off the books.

Deal done, will be announced within 24hours.

He outscored Henrik Larsson for Helsingborg, though - he was a hot prospect when we signed him. Shame he came to nothing, but no hard feelings from me - sometimes you have to take a gamble, and it's not always going to pay off.

:(
shame, always wish he was given a decent run in the side like sharp was

(post 666, watch luton become a beast of a striker)

Let's see how he fares for his new club, tearing down the pitch before unleashing a thunderous strike straight at the hot-dog stand. Again.

We got a big wad of cash for a player who cost us thruppence ha'penny. Very good business at the time.
Very short-sighted I would say. And I did at the time. Anyone with half a footballing brain could see that kid had bags of potential and would command a big transfer fee in the near future.

I still don't think he looks particularly impressive, he still likes to ball watch but has improved his acting ability of late. We got a good fee but I do not see him reaching any greater heights.

He is an alright striker but probably isnt suited to the english game. He has bags of skill, pace and decent strike aswell but he he gets knocked of the ball too easy and is awful at heading the ball. I do think he maybe should of had more of a run in the 1st team epscially when you consider the price we paid for him. Maybe we could of sent him out on loan to help him adapt to the english game. Anyway good luck to him hope he does well. Unfortunatly he will go down as another striker Warnock wasted stupid amounts of money on.

Agreed Bladesman,

I've said it for a long time, get him out on loan, because he still had plenty of potential. Whenever he started games he looked dangerous, especially playing alongside Stead. But sadly the games he came on as sub he was poor at best (Cardiff game apart).

He's gone for £1mil + addons + sell on fee.
