It was interesting seeing the comments from the Americans on twitter a lot were complimentary and i think we've made a few fans ,the rest seemed a bit initmidated which again is a backward compliment .the only insulting tweet was from a baldy Liverpool fan probably from Essex or Norfolk

Fuck what the yanks think we need to make BDTDL the most hostile atmosphere in the PL (while avoiding anything that would give the authorities the chance to censure us). So many players in the past have commented about the atmosphere we can create and if we can ramp it up to another level it has got to be worth a few points over the season. So shout and cheer, boo and jeer (away players) and get behind the boys all season long, no matter how the game is going or what anyone else thinks. WE ARE BLADES, WE ARE BLADES, O WE ARE, WE ARE BLADES.
I think you have got that just right - noisy, hostile, edgy. But I would just add as a warning to anyone wanting to take it too far - have a look at the pictures of the AZ Alkmaar ground today, where part of a roof has collapsed in a ground opened in 2006. Fortunately, it was not during a match, but it is a perfect illustration of why fans need access to the pitch in an emergency. There is no excuse to be on the pitch unless it is to escape danger - we must not go back to fences and policing which assumes that anyone going on the pitch has to be forced back off it. The consequences of that were disastrous. But anything we can do to make it uncomfortable for the opposition and to will our lads on - go for it.

It looks like we’ve both terrified and inspired some Stateside viewers from the NBCSN coverage.

We’ve been described as:

  • Drunken
  • Loutish
  • Aggressive
  • “Like a crazy relative that drinks too much”

But also:

  • Infectiously joyous
  • A delight to watch celebrating
  • Amazing

Hopefully, they haven’t seen anything yet...

Get in the goal...

I do love Mourinho's comments after his visit to BDTBL with Chelsea:

"Places like this are the soul of English football. The crowd is magnificent, saying 'fuck off Mourinho' and so on."

Good job he doesn’t attend the Lane Library very often. It’s the nerves you know...

I have just seen pictures that is SCARY had there been fans in ground the death toll could have been horrendous, there should be access to the pitch but in the right circumstances. I mean Bradford & Hillsbro were horrible enough just imagine if access to pitch barred 100%.

What Twitter feed was that on? NBC's?

Don't know what the yanks will think when we qualify for Europe, and start invading a few countries. They'll probably respect us for that.

The coverage kept cutting to our fans all the time. I don't know if they normally do it in the US but it actually felt better than the UK obsession of putting cameras on players or managers all the time when there is not much going on.

Funnily enough my other half watched the highlights on sky with me last night, not a football fan at all, during celebrations of course the first and possibly only thing she spots is some bloke holding his young daughter in a green coat , blonde hair, anyway the bloke is caught in the rush when Billy gets to the fans etc

She is like oh my god WTF, what are they all doing, they could have hurt that poor girl, is she alright, check internet to see if she was hurt

I was like she will be ok, her dad had her, knows what he was doing etc

She's a lucky girl getting the chance to celebrate with sir Billy 😁😁

Not sure they definitely watched the game on NBC but the tweets were retweeted on my feed
The only thing they seemed to comment on was the fans

I watched the game on NBC and they kept cutting to the Blades fans cos they were making a right noise all through the game. Commentators were very complimentary about the support. It sounded like 7 or 8 thousand at times. Well done each and every one of you. I salute you. 🏴‍☠️

That bloke who celebrated by grabbing hold of the stewards head was pure joy.
Wobbling a steward by his bonce is NOT to be regarded as part of following footy.
Stewards will have to wear protective head gear next. A new industrial injury may occur.
Don't try it at BDTBL.

Reyt funny though.🤣

Hey leave my fellow Americans alone! But seriously a couple of my friends watched the game with me and quite enjoyed it and hopefully will watch some more with me going forward 😁
Damned with faint praise! 'Quite enjoyed it.':) Don't think we've completely won them over yet.

I believe the traditional token of American disapproval is a cruise missile through the living room window. Y’all have been warned.

With apologies to Yank 😁

T20190618_210953.jpgThe stewards were wearing hard hats at the U21 Euros, must have heard that a middle aged couple from Sheffield were in the ground.
