Commentators have had to correct themselves live on air before when Man Utd play Newcastle, Leeds, West Ham etc.

With us spending so many years in the wilderness and the all conquering Manc’s hoovering up everything for a more than a generation…You can’t really blame the football world for forgetting who the original “United” are.
Leeds, Newcastle, West Ham have all been conditioned to effectively drop the United in their names to go along Prem narrative. So much so that when we turn up to the Prem party fans and pundits are genuinely confused when we object to being called Sheffield.

The obvious difference being there are two relevant teams in n Manchester and one in Sheffield I know I get it.. but I’m not talking about the irrelevant team in Sheffield I’m talking about the fact we are United the originals and people should respect that enough to use it. globally people use United to refer to Man Utd and Sheffield when referring to us. It’s those people that can fuck off.

If I was a multi billionaire I'd take over United and drop Sheffield from the name.

Why do people get so het up over being referred to as Sheffield.

For me, it's a compliment, there's only one team in Sheffield so everyone knows who the person is referring to.

Let's be honest, outside of England, nobody has even heard of a fucking Sheffield Wednesday if they're under 30 years old.

Tbh some may think you are biased saying no one’s heard of our neighbours abroad but you are spot-on.
I travel a lot with work in Europe and further afield and if you haven’t been in the Premier League in recent memory you don’t exist.
