6. for us...John Moore? I have zero recollection of him whatsoever!
6. for us...John Moore? I have zero recollection of him whatsoever!
After he shook hands with the opposition players after the 2-2 draw at Wolves, he headed for the players tunnel rather than join in the celebrations with his team matesOn loan from Hull. Played a bit at the end of that season without making much of an impression. Had a nomadic career after that, which included a stint in Hong Kong long enough to allow him to qualify for, and play for, the Hong Kong "national" team in World Cup qualifiers.
By the way folks, if you've any old videos knocking about I can do a similar job with them.
Thanks so much: that was my first proper season watching united and it was incredible. I love Martin Pike's celebrations. Even more incredible was the official attendance of 15,383!!! That was just the kop!!! Biggest tax fiddle ever that season and next.
I've got the 5-2 v htfc somewhere when Tracey made his league debut. I used to order the videos from the club and it took about 4 weeks to arrive!I have a few more to add for this season when I get round to it. Oddly, I don't have any match videos for the season after.
We regularly sang 'You'll Never Walk Alone' throughout the 1980s. We sang it once normally and then once interspersed with clapping "Walk on (clap clap) walk on (clap clap)...."etc. Of course it took on added poignancy post-Hillsborough, especially the 2-2 draw against Brentford which was the first match played in Sheffield after the tragedy.Always interested to hear us sing you'll never walk alone. Might have been related to Hillsborough, but I do recall we used to sing it a fair bit in the late 80s. Same if you listen to the Leicester match a year later.
That Brentford match was the most emotional atmosphere I can ever remember at the lane; the minute's silence was awesome, even now I'm getting hairs standing on the back of my neck thinking about it. Without getting political, a lot of football fans knew the score and realised it could have been them. It's almost impossible for my sons to understand how football fans were portrayed in the media and treated by society at large and the police in particular, less than 30 years ago.We regularly sang 'You'll Never Walk Alone' throughout the 1980s. Incredibly, we also regularly sang 'Marching On Together' throughout the 1980s, but ending 'We are Blades, Blades, Blades!' instead of 'We love you Leeds, Leeds, Leeds!'
