Just watched the extended "highlights". Didn't look the best game ever.
One of the worse home matches I've seen in years regards entertainment.
The 1st half was a total borefest with both teams seemingly happy to go in 0-0 at half-time, reminded me of a Nigel Clough 1st half where nothing happens as though our gameplan was to save energy and not even try in the 1st half, deliberately saving our energy for the 2nd half.
Neither goalie touched the ball, it was like watching 2 boxers just jabbing each other from distance with little power, no intent or workrate.
The 2nd half we (as expected) upped the tempo slightly, however Luton scored out of the blue, their only shot on target in the whole match.
I said at the time, this game desperately needed a goal and at least United would finally show some urgency and push numbers forward attacking the Kop
but there was little reaction from our players. Luton pinched a goal and then just shut up shop, they concentrated on defence and made no effort to score a second goal.
We attacked but never looked like scoring at any point, the body language, quality, effort and confidence was shockingly low.
We really looked like a nervous, almost frightened relegation threatened team and in the end it was a really comfortable win for a very organised but basic Luton side.
