As Manchester City were thrashing Watford yesterday on Final Score they were looking for Premier League records of the biggest margins of victory, which of course is the well known Manchester United 9-0 Ipswich result back in 1995.

Garth Crooks actually made a decent point reminding everyone that football did used to exist before the Premier League and asked for the biggest margin of victory in the top flight of the entirety of English football history.

Turns out, unbeknownst to myself and presumably many others, that we held that record with our 10-0 win against Burnley in 1929.

Barely any information (i.e scorers, times etc) appears to be available upon brief searches on Google, does anyone have anything more about it?

UTB!

That’s not correct. There have been 2 12-0 wins in the top flight, most recently in 1909 (Forest v Leicester).

The scorers in United’s 10-0 win v Burnley- Harry Johnson 4, Fred Tunstall 2 (1 pen), Tom Phillipson 2, Sid Gibson and Billy Gillespie. United were only 2 up at half time. The following Saturday they drew 0-0 at Cardiff.

Yesterday Garth Crooks was talking about the most special players he had ever seen over the years and he mentioned Tony Currie for Sheffield United.

He's had a lot of stick from Unitedites lately. He's just Currieing favour.
I know you’re joking but I have vague recollections of him saying this before, possibly on that documentary on the mavericks of the 70s.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche admits he is not sure whether Chris Wood will return to action in time to face Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Clarets striker missed the weekend 4-2 defeat to Chelsea with a hamstring problem.

While the injury is not thought to be serious, it was enough to see the New Zealand international miss out against Frank Lampard's men and Dyche said after the game that the 27-year-old is not certain to feature at Brammall Lane next weekend.

Wood has four goals in his last four Premier League games and Dyche admitted his side had missed the presence of the frontman, even though Ashley Barnes was fit enough to return to the side.

Spot the irritating error ☢

It sticks out like a mmountain.

Our 10-0 record win is an away win against Port Vale in 1892. It is still a record for the second division - now championship

I bet there were some fisticuffs after that one! o_ODoesn’t take much to upset them Burslem boys. Always up for a scuffle them lads. Can’t be nice though having to live there and only having Port Vale to look forward to, then seeing them concede 10!😀
