For all those who disagree with the choice, then what is the alternative?

The last 20 years, takes us to 1997.
A couple of years prior to his arrival, modest fare and no stability in the managers office or out on the pitch.
The Warnock years. Takes care of about 40% of the time period. A few longer serving players (Jags/Morgan/Monty).
A mighty fall from grace from 07 to 16 (Robson/Hoofy and a cast of thousands).
Wilder (less than 2 years on board).

I am confident Wilder is destined for the title. However, given the paucity of alternatives, I don't think there was a viable replacement.
Brown for a season? Jags and his "bail out" clause? Morgan (probably the nearest we've got).

He has gone through some turbulent times with the blades - Wilson had a 1 out, 1 in policy placed upon him for example.

He has also employed some complete tools - Robson, Speed, Weir, Adams, Adkins and (with the exception of Speed) had to dig into his pockets to relieve them of their duties. We were to some extent a poisoned chalice since Kevin Blackwell left the club where nothing appeared to go right for us. Clough and Wilson flirted with promotion but for a team of our size, in the third tier for as long as we were most certainly puts us on unstable ground. McCabe has done what he had to do to manage us out of the situation whilst balancing the books too.

Take the pigs for example. If they don't get up this season with the money they've spent, they are proper fucked.

Danny04 I can see the reasoning for Warnock, but i think the likes of Michael Brown, Tonge, Jags and Morgan did just as much as Warnock. I suppose from the outside, Warnock was the man and thats probably where they picked the Blades winner from.

Personally though, as much as i liked Warnock for what he (eventually) achieved, Wilder did more in his first season than Warnock could ever do.
