If COH managed to purchase Wednesday and merge the two clubs, would you go to games?

Btw , where's Hinchliffe these days ?
Staying at my Mablethorpe condo with Woolhouse and Carlo Colombotti. Mr Bobo keeps throwing peanuts at Carlo.

Charles Green is outside Saltys chippy looking for a fight.

Sam Hashimi has borrowed the Discovery but he / she says it keeps slipping into the wrong gear

Article written by Rob Staton, doesn’t say too much but does say according to his contacts COH did speak to the administrators.
"COH inherited a healthy club that has enjoyed plenty of success in recent years. They had/have a serial winner in charge of the football side of things in Wilder. There are highly competent people working behind the scenes."

🤣 🤣 🤣

This is 100% shithousary by the Wednesday administrators. Trying to unsettle us. simple as that. Fair play to them for taking the risk. I wouldn’t!

How about Sheffield FC absorbing United and the Pigs? "Oldest club in the world" schtick then leveraged to the fullest. The divide between pigs and Blades joining the "new" enterprise is then bridged somewhat by neither absorbing the other but playing behind another identity . Pie in the sky but sit seems more workable. Football is based on short termism so I doubt a merger is ever a realistic proposition.
If I was forced to pick a form of merger, this would be it .

But fuck me, I hope this is bollocks

Apparently not in Sheffield where we revel in our glorious past (but fail to capitalise upon it) and see any progress as fraught with danger.
Future fortune favours the bold.
Cast your eyes upon Manchester & Liverpool and tell me why the City of my birth is not even on the football map.
Both Manchester and Liverpool is home to 2 professional teams, like Sheffield.

Not sure if anyone listened to Simon Jordan on Talksport getting asked about a possible merger. He called Wednesday the "considerably bigger club" of the two.

Because he knows he’ll get a reaction, it drives traffic and generates clicks.

He’s no better than a tramp who gives blowies for coins.

Also, who is paying for this swanky new stadium?
The Council, obviously. You just need to put a rough circle around a suitable piece of land, ask the Council to remove all the businesses and homeowners from it, get them to clear the land and then give it to us for free. That’s how it works isn’t it?

That's a bloody great idea in principle.
Football in Sheffield is running at about half its potential compared to other cities.
We desperately need ideas like this to kick around and work out a way of making progress.

Don't try to draw comparisons with those 4 global clubs in order to justify the continuation of 2 decades long underperforming clubs in Sheffield.

I mention them to highlight what can be achieved if you get to a critical mass with a merger in our city or at the very least a ground-share.

The land vacated at Swillsborough & the Lane plus a combination of the Council and the kind of investor who can see the potential of what can come from an exciting new development like the Eastlands of Manchester or the one being planned in Trafford for the new Manure stadium 🏟️ and retail / housing , which is the kind of bold enterprise that puts Sheffield in the shade.
But it should not.
Because if we lift up our ambitions , there's nothing to stop us doing the same kind of thing.

Except a foreign multi billionaire.

Personally, I think it is brilliant

it makes economical sense spend £40m, eliminate your rivels and increase your gate by a 1/3

Even if it never happens, please drag it out as the wind-up potential is unlimited

Will you come to the lane when Rustborough is a Netto supermarket etc

Do you think any of your players will make the squad

etc

love it

Contrary to many on here i quite like Simon Jordan , of course he talks some crap and is opinionated but that goes with the territory of the station .
He also offers some very well reasoned arguments and alternative view , might not always agree with them but at least he makes a case on lots of stuff which is rare.

As his withdrawal and perspective on the S6 takeover I think hes come to a earlier conclusion that many may arrive at.

Basically chucking £100m+ into a league 1 club with no more than a 50/50 chance of success is foolhardy to say the least.

He did say yesterday that Wednesday are years behind the blades and it will take years and a lot of money to catch up , however his dislike of wilder clouds his judgement at times , then again it does on here for some.
