R.I.P. a top bloke and a true legend!

Such sad news

R.I.P. Derek Dooley
A Sheffield legend

My thoughts are with his family and friends

My thought and sympathy are with his family

RIP to a true Legend

Very sad news.

I first saw Derek on The Ball Inn ground when I was in my youth. He'd watch all the Sheffield Boys games and many others. I've also seen him in his later years watching games in Graves Park. The man could never get enough football.

Sheffield has lost a football legend and a gentleman.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

R.I.P. Derek

R.I.P. a definite Legend.

Needs to have a statue of him or memorial near the center of town, or halfway between BDTBL & Swillsborough

RIP DD

Legend, nice bloke. it's all been said.

Condolences to the Dooley family.

R.I.P Derek.

Played sunday league against his grandson a few times and he was always on the side line watching and always happy to talk to you after the game.

Top bloke!

My condolances to his family. he was an ambassador for our club and for Sheffield. He saw the Blades through some very bad times and we all have lots to thank him for.

Terrible news, I pass my best wishes on to Sylvia, Suzanne and Martin.
Derek's granddaughter is in my year at school, do you wat me to print off these kind words in his memory so his family get them.
RIP Derek, Statue of him outside both Sheffield grounds.

I can only echo the sentiments above. The true footballing men in the game are a rapidly diminishing bunch and Sheffield football has lost one of the best ambassadors.

A city United through a true legend!

Deepest sympathy to his close loved ones - RIP Derek

Forever missed - Never forgotten!

From the OS....

Books of Condolence are to be placed at Bramall Lane for fans to pay tribute to Derek Dooley, who died on Wednesday.

United's life vice-president and former chairman passed away at home aged 78. He was, of course, a player and manager at Sheffield Wednesday and is one of a few men revered on either side of Steel City.

Bramall Lane's two receptions - on Cherry Street and John Street - will be open from 9am until 9pm on Thursday and Friday for supporters to write personal messages to the Sheffield footballing legend.

Bramall Lane's flags are currently flying at half mast, whilst prior to United's next home match - against Coventry City on Tuesday evening - a minute's silence will be held.

Throughout the day United have been inundated with tributes from footballing personalities, led by United's plc chairman, Kevin McCabe, and Pele.

Terrible news, I pass my best wishes on to Sylvia, Suzanne and Martin.
Derek's granddaughter is in my year at school, do you wat me to print off these kind words in his memory so his family get them.
RIP Derek, Statue of him outside both Sheffield grounds.

If you don't mind and other people think its a good idea/appropriate... i'll collate them into some form of order and pass them onto you.
