An ITK poster on Owlstalk with a previously reliable record has given an update on Charles’s tonight.

1: Charles enjoying it at SWFC and would prefer to return there.
2: Apparently we are serious about doing a deal, so there is still a chance we might get him.
3: Southampton approached Rohl direct to be their manager without seeking permission. So Chansiri is threatening to report Southampton to the league if they don’t play ball regards Charles. He’s refusing to pay an increased loan fee and wants him to return on the same terms. Suspect we can offer a much bigger loan fee than what SW were paying during the 1st half of the season.

So Rohl and Chansiri held talks and patched things up but Chansiri planning on reporting Southampton to the league which could cause them to theoretically get a transfer ban next season when Rohl potentially takes over.

I'm sure that would go down well.

If point 3 was true, then how are SWFC going or the FL going to prove that Southampton approached Sausage Roll direct then? If SR is going anyway in tbe summer, he's hardly going to play ball and confirm any such approach was made. Clubs approach the agents of the players and management all the time to 'sound out' moves before making an official approach to see if there is interest from their target. Should be done via the club first of course, but you would be very naive if you thought it was all done like that and with clubs following the Queensbury rules. Southampton would just deny everything and if necessary say that it was instigated by agents and not them.

The lad will go where his parent club, the lad himself, and his agent team want him to go when all interested clubs show their hand. Chansiri won't be dictating anything other than potentially sanctioning a deal that the grunts can offer.

Re Charles. Preferring to stay at the sty rather than come to us makes obvious sense, cos he must know he's well off starting for us when / if all ours are fit.

If #3 is true, then the path of least resistance is to send him back to Wednesday.

Alternative is to keep him themselves for next season.

Just for context, this is the same poster I was alluding too previously who had hinted Charles would be back at Wednesday.

God, it'd be so fucking funny if we do sign him. I still reckon he'll play the remainder of the season at Southampton or Wednesday and we'll look elsewhere. If he plays for Southampton before the window closes, he wouldn't be able to sign for a team other than Wednesday anyway.

We could REALLY do with someone coming in before Friday too because otherwise its Burrows in the middle and McCallum or RND at left back, and I can't take another game of that right now

Souza is back Friday as is JRS according to Wilder post match

I’m sure he said they’d be back for the Swansea match. Hopefully he’s right this time, we really need Vini back

He said they were likely back for Swansea or Hull, last night was a very definite they're back.

Might not get more that 50/60 out of Souza but get that and then half an hour of Peck on his own with 2 up front is better than Burrows at CM again

Ah yes, blackmail would make sense when you’re so enraged about not following the rules.

Even if Souza is back, surely he won't be starting? But I could see him getting 30 minutes or so.

Rather than trying to shoe horn Burrows into CM, I would start Blacker. He did well against Cardiff (one of the few who did) and if he is good enough to be in the squad, regardless of the circumstances, he is good enough to be on the pitch whenever required. If there had been more injuries last night, he'd have been on earlier anyway.

Peck is a worry too. He looks to be on his last legs and I don't see him lasting much longer before something snaps at this rate.

I don’t think Southampton are even remotely concerned in Chancer reporting them, not to the point they allow another chairman to throw his weight around demanding this or that

They wouldn’t have approached illegally if they were remotely bothered

I think it’s entirely plausible that the lad has incredibly poor taste and therefore enjoys it at Wednesday and would like to stay rather than be sent to wherever and saints like the lad and are happy if he is happy

This is a lovely principle... But it's not how real life works is it!

Realistically we may well have lost that game if Blacker played.

Agree, Simon Jordan was chatting on Talk Sport last month and he said that every single club approaches managers and players before they contact the club.
He said some might call it “tapping up” but it’s gone on for years and is normal behaviour.

He also said it’s not provable because what you find is that….an agent or intermediary for the club contact the agent of the player or manager.
So even if the whole interview was recorded as evidence…..the club can simply say it’s a rogue agent not authorised or connected to their club.

Remember in the recent meeting at SWFC.
A direct quote from Chansiri when hearing that Southampton had recalled Charles was ‘If Southampton hurt us then we can hurt them back”

Maybe, maybe not, but he couldn't have done any worse than Burrows in the middle, who was appalling in the first half.

So the point stands that he would still have been on the pitch sooner if one or more CMs had been injured. The gaffer is hardly going to stick Seriki or One in CM instead is he?

We are down to the bare bones in midfield. We trusted Peck to step up earlier in the season. Blacker wouldn't be involved at all if Wilder didn't trust him too.

Either way his recall doesn’t come into effect until after their game later.

We wouldn’t have heard anything before then would we. Imagine the lad walking out for them tonight having just been announced as our latest signing

Now that would’ve been funny

We would have definitely lost the game if he didn't make the changes at half time. Burrows has shown in both games he's played there that he just doesn't know the position. Peck looked lost first half with no one to pass to.

It is a risk playing two youngsters in central midfield but in the cup game Blacker was better than Burrows and my guess is he would be in league game too purely because he knows the role.

That said I'm hoping we play either Souza, Choudhury or Charles on Friday ;)

I don't know why Southampton don't play him. They're relegated and he's a young talent who you'd think will be in their team next season. It worked well for us with Blaster. Southampton playing some loan player instead of their own youngster when they essentially have nothing to play for seems shortsighted but then again they spent £7m on BBD who was the most unsuited player to their style imaginable.
If we had a midfielder last season who was better than Blaster or Brooks and might have stopped us getting paggered every game, I'd want him playing tbh.
