I can totally understand Billy being pissed if he was told he was having another year then had the rug pulled from under him.

But

On the evidence of last season, time had caught up with him for me. I get that he’s a huge influence in the dressing room, I get that would have been a potential reason to give him one more year. But given our financial situation it’s a wage that could have been spent elsewhere.

What he gave us in his time has been phenomenal. I’m delighted for him that he got the move to Galaxy. Whatever you think of the standard (I think it’s quite poor) the profile of the game over there is pretty good. A fantastic environment to live and work and see out your career. He deserves that, and our thanks
 

We needed him to install a bit of culture. Let the new and young lads wtf they are playing for. That dressing room at half time yesterday would of come out with a bit of fire in em if Billy was in.
 
I don't think he needs to shut up, I get it. He's hurting, he's a proud man, and he just wanted - not necessarily the send off - but his chance to build himself up for his goodbye. He's a club legend and he's been at the centre of our most recent successful period, leading from the front.

He wasn't what we needed now, as it's a big ask for him to step up to the PL again at the latter end of his playing career, but in his own confidence, he'd be exactly what we need now - as Billy Sharp backs Billy Sharp, and quite rightly too. He's made a career out of backing his own ability. I can understand Hecky's thinking a little - in terms of squad unity, and keeping the squad honest and bedding in the new recruits - and I do think we lost our way a lot at the start of the season, in terms of not having a club identity. I think we're addressing that a little now, with CWAK being back. But that was never reason enough to use valuable squad places on players who (in Enda's case) are way past their prime.
 
I get why we let him go, but don't get why we didn't keep him short-term for the games at the start of the season until we signed Archer and McAtee and had to confirm the squad. Surely Bill would've been a viable option when we had to play Traore and Osula because all the other forwards were injured. Would also have given him a chance to grab that final goal as a proper send-off as well.
 
Next time he gets asked, he should lie and say he wasn't bothered. Fed up of footballers saying more than "ermm", "yeah" and "great bunch of lads".
 
I appreciate the fact that it still bothers him and he openly says it when he's asked or in interviews. It shows it is still a sore wound for him and importantly, that he genuinely cares for SUFC.

I think we should have handled it differently and without being party to all the facts about who said what it's difficult to know for sure what happened. Clearly, Billy feels a little let down by the SUFC hierarchy abd after what he has done for the club then that's a shame. He not a lesser man for telling people that he feels let down and was hurt emotionally. He gives a fuck and in this day and age of plastic footballers who just chase the money, it's actually quite endearing and refreshing.

He'll be back at the Lane soon enough in some capacity, and both him and United will be better for it. In the meantime, get rattling them goals in again King Billy for the 🐯.

What’s reported in the press , Billy Sharp, was largely anonymous 1st half and Carvalho, was lively ! 😂

Watched most of it. Did OK. Some good off ball movement and touches to bring others in to the play phase. Also caught on his heels a few times.

Had a decent half chance (on a crap bobbly pitch) that prime Sharp puts away.

Still just about Championship level and would tear L1 a new one if that’s where he ends up in the summer.

Shin pads a mistake old boy 😃!

400 championship games with two years in league one with us and 2 in the premier league. Incredible really!

Yep.They need to play to suit Billy's game not the other way round.
Hull midfield energyless and wasteful.
Carvalho looked pants.
