I’ve seen from Twitter a few people mentioning that the Sharp & McBurnie partnership doesn’t work.

Sharp has been brilliant this season, and I still think McBurnie could come good, but the stats on when they start together are pretty damning:

Games started together: 16
Wins: 3
Draws: 4
Losses: 9
Sharp goals: 2
McBurnie goals: 0
Team goals with both on pitch: 7

I know 16 isn’t a gigantic sample size, but we look so toothless when those two are up top together.

Agree, it hasn’t worked for a couple of seasons now. Can see why he put McB in as he’s usually very good at defensive headers and Millwall have a set piece threat.

Maybe try Jebbison and Sharp? Forest would be quaking!!! Just a thought. I'll go back to sleep....

McBurnie should just shit line
Getting involved in all other aspects of the game does more harm than good

I'm still pretty sure he would be a good finisher if he was allowed to just hang around the six yard box doing next to nothing

I can't imagine he did anything other than this at Swansea, and seems to be yet another player bought based on what his record looks like rather than whether he'd actually fit into our style of play

It's a terrible pairing.

McBurnie can't run the channels as he's too slow so Billy does
But McBurnie doesn't make runs across the defenders
McBurnie comes deep to get the ball but then is too slow getting back
There's simply no pace and our midfielders don't fun past
It's too slow and static. Defenders know they can simply stand on their heels and they won't go past them

I'm surprised Ndiaye didn't start further forward. It would have, at least, pushed them back.

I haven’t really seen it work well yet, but there shouldn’t be any reason it doesn’t work, in theory.

McBurnie must be doing something right in training because other than the cameo at Birmingham, he’s done absolutely nothing except defend well in the other games. Which is great, but not when you’re the clubs main striker

McBurnie has to be behind Brewster at the moment and he’s out injured for the rest of the season

Problem being that they scored from a set piece. No attacking threat and no defensive help, pointless!

Their commentator summed it up perfectly after around 5 mins today “If I were a Millwall defender I’d be a lot more afraid of Sharp than McBurnie”.

I’m glad it’s not just me.

Think that sums it up
