Billy Sharp and Luton Shelton will lead the United attack tonight, as the Blades reserves make the short trip to Millmoor to face Rotherham United in the Pontins Holiday League, kick-off 7pm.

Also included in a strong looking line-up are; Ian Bennett, Stephen Quinn, Nicky Law and James Ashmore.

The Blades drew 1-1 against the Millers last week, in the Pontins Holiday League Cup, but recorded a 1-0 victory at Barnsley last time out in the league, with now Hearts striker Christian Nade scoring the winner.

Blades: Bennett, Binnion, Naughton, Ashmore, Cresswell, Chanot, Law, S.Quinn, Sharp, Shelton, Donnelly.
Subs: Wedgbury, Lowton, Eagers, Oliver, Abdi

good, shows him he isnt garunteed 1st team football and hopefully he can get his 1st goal (s) and get some confidence back.

I completely agree; he has shown nothing to suggest he deserves a place in the starting eleven and is the only one of our realistic forward options yet to score a goal this season.

Players should be judged on their performances alone.

I hope he bags a hat-trick and takes his place on the bench at the weekend.

He hasnt had one clear chance yet.

I dont see how people expect him to score goals without any service.

Or perhaps he hasn't been making decent enough runs for himself.

A good striker will make his own chances.....

I agree with Sharpy. I don't think he has been getting the service he needs to score goals. There has been little or no balls across or in the box for him to pounce on and score.

no service? hes had how many games? webber comes on and gets 2?

hrm.....

Thats the way it goes.. it could have been Sharp scoring both of these.

I agree with Sharpy there has been little for him so far.

hopefully that changes this weekend.

hes had the same service as webber had, and a lot more of it.

more games yes, clear cut chances, im not so sure?? we dont play at all to sharp's style so the lad will struggle, but im still confident he will get 15+ this season

Exactly ... our route one football targetting Beattie isn't what hes good at ... The lad wants the ball to his feet ... Not saying we shouldn't use Beattie as evidently it works (Webber x2 Vs Scunny) but maybe our game isn't right for Billy?

For me sharp hasnt had great service but i think he could have had a few chances if he was on his toes

he never seems to be ready to make the one quick run

I agree that he hasn't had a bucketload of chances but our other forwards are managing to find the net on a farely regular basis despite the lack of chances being created. Whether it is about being in the right place at the right time or having the instinct to find space, he has had more minutes on the pitch then both webber and stead put together and yet both have managed to find the net and look like much more of a threat.

I have no doubts that he can find the net if a chance is there on a plate, but i doubt there are many forwards out there who cannot; and you can pick such a player up for a damn sight less then 2 million quid.

It is early days and i won't form conclusions about Billy but putting all sentiment aside; Stead and Webber now must be in front of him in the pecking order.

With Hulse coming back, i think it may be a while before Billy gets a run of 4 consecutive league starts again.

i dont think he's had the service either but i also agree that when he's had his chances (west brom) he's been caught offside or just not been ready for it.. i personally think sharp should start on the bench on staurday with beattie and webber up front, bring him at some point and see if he has more fire in his belly lol

there is no way in hell you can put sharp in front of webber. webber has scored 2 from nothing, sharp has done f/a. like people saying it might not be falling for him, but at the end of the day, webbers getting us goals. sharp isnt.
