Plenty of strikers still manage to score regularly after 30.

Nothing in the way he's played this season suggests he's diminishing.
Take that and hopefully that will be the case but you can't deny the general trend of player scoring abilities up to and after the 30 mark. It's just another reason to make sure we add players that can contribute goals to take some of the pressure off the strikers. Something we haven't been able to do for a few seasons.

It is generally what happens as a player gets older (roughly mid-late 20's onwards). But particularly as they reach the 30 mark.
if you've been recently and seen the amount of ground he covers and sheer graft he still puts in every game, 40 odd games in to the season now, you'd realise how far off the mark your assessment of his fitness levels are.

There's more aspects than just fitness that can affect a players game as they get older.

Why the fucking hell Adkins played Calvert-lewin in front of him at Bury ,and Baxter in front of Coutts ,Campbell ryce in front of Done and Reed in front of Flynn ,is absolutely mind numbing and possibly the reason we wont go up.
However saying that baxter wouldn't have failed his drugs test so maybe not.

Don't worry, someone will be along shortly saying all Adkins signing have been shit.

Didn't you enjoy the Bury game? You should have mentioned it :p

Thanks Billy lad.
Another one against the dingles will do nicely

For once this season, a brace would be nicer. :)
Sharp's the type who can carry on being prolific until at least 34/35 in this league.

Let's hope he's not playing for United in this league when he's 34/35. :(

Yes,I would like to think that if billy stays injury free,he has 4 seasons left in him, with quality service he will score at championship level as well
Well done BS..

Agree, Billy seems to have the right attitude to training and being fit. If anything, he has seemed fitter and faster this season than in his previous stints at BDTBL, and that (as we know as we get older) just shouldn't happen, so his training methods and stamina building, whoever he trains with, have paid off.

I think he has at least two more god years ahead of him, but we need a much better midfield and service, all too often we have seen Billy acting as hold up man, defender, creative passer, when he should have other people doing that, and he stays up front ready to pounce.

I am sure Billy will want to finish his career at the club he loves and supports, and what more fitting end but to be part of the team that (eventually) goes up.

Indeed ....... and when our "ambitious" Board try to sell him in the summer, I'm guessing he's the type to do a "Dane Whitehouse" and tell them to F**K right off !!

Now what we need is a big, strong, fast striker to play upfront with him next season to get us out of this agricultural Division ........ along with a bloody good clearout of dross and a few better quality recruits ......

UTB & FTP

One big thing he has going for him is that he doesn't rely heavily on pace so should be less affected by age than some strikers.

He's a clever player who gains a yard in his head and as an RS commentator said the other day "knows the dark arts". He can be a great mentor to the more physically blessed Che Adams.

"{Che's} good to play with, he can make things happen, & I think we do link well. That's 30 plus goals between us, so that's good as a partnership, so if we can can keep playing together I'm sure we'll get even better."

If.

We've got our blossoming Deane/Agana partnership, after waiting all these years. Please, board - Don't fuck this up.

We were robbed of one when Evans got sent down.
I doubt he would have eclipsed Rhodes' 36 even with those extra games. Maybe if he wasn't injured at the start of the season too...
