Sharp assaulted

I'd come on to say exactly this. Any right minded person would think about mortgage repayments and family members before deciding the headbutt a footballer on national TV in bright yellow top.

Glad he's got a custodial sentence, hope it deters a few people who instead now think before acting like a tit in future.
Spot on.
All actions have consequences attached to them whether good or bad.
This clown decided not to engage his single brain cell and think of what they might be when he set off on his one man crusade to injury Sharpy.
He's now probably realised what the consequences are for his actions.
Fortunately for him he'll have a good few months inside to mull them over, and maybe make better lifestyle judgements in the future.

He tried to squirm out of it by saying this :-

Ms Gowans said: "He says that in effect he got carried away in the moment... as did a number of people. His sole intention was to get to the tunnel. He remembers running towards the players but to the left of Billy Sharp, looking at the crowd... and then running straight into somebody.

and then kept on walking laughing to himself.

Arsehole.

Why are people so obsessed with the idea that people who go to prison will be bummed repeatedly
In my day you’d get bummed every day and be grateful for it.

Nowadays in these Woke Leftie LGBTQWERTY+ Days you’ll be lucky to get as much as an arse tickle and a reach around.

No it’s all play stations, art courses and masters degrees in criminology in between sorting your autobiography.

Hardly likely they will suffer a repossession in 24 weeks. Just a defence ploy. However, ticking the box “do you have a criminal record” may cause an issue in several areas in future. Shame.
Exactly this.
If he's lost his job due to his idiotic actions, his next foray into the employment market he'll see that he's got very limited options due to his criminal record, and rightly so.
I'm pretty sure it'll affect his credit rating too. So trying for credit in the future, he may well find difficulties.

Can you prove that beyond reasonable doubt in a court? If he's got a clean criminal record then it can only treated as what it is, an isolated incident. You can't convict someone based on a what if or hunch. It doesn't work like that.

If you get caught speeding should you be given an automatic driving ban, or 3 points and a fine. On your logic it should be a ban as you've sped once and will likely do it again.

Not having a pop at you by the way.
No, I’m making a generalisation based on the fact that the bloke is obviously a bit of a prick. I don’t care about the legal side of it. If I went around head butting footballers I’d expect people to think I was a prick as well.

I’ve just had a speeding ticket this week and will probably speed again, just hopefully won’t get caught.

So on the drunken side: Nottingham police have said that his statement said he had 6 pints before the game and 1 at half time.

Of course not. If someone on here had said "I hope she gets raped" (or something similar) about a woman, the person who posted the comment would immediately get absolutely slaughtered. It is (of course) a terrible thing to say.

But there seems to be this strange thing, that whenever a male is sent to prison, people start glorifying male on male rape as a suitable punishment. Replace the "male" in that scenario with child, woman, etc and there would be mass outrage. I find it all rather odd. 🤷‍♀️

Without wanting to trivialise what you've written, which is bang on the money, I do find that the thought of being forcibly taken up the wrong un by the prison bullies a decent enough deterrent to not miss behave enough to earn a jail term..

My mum cried when she saw Scum and that kid that went with the message to the greenhouse, powerfull stuff wasn't it..

It does happen though.... So behave yourselves..

Lightweight !! I have been watching professional football since 1958 and i have never seen it necessary to go on the pitch,i fail to understand the obsession with so many fans who feel the need to do it.We must all demand and do everything we can to stop this mindless, unnecessary and dangerous act,for goodness sake Forest hadn’t even won promotion, what the fuck would have happened if we had won the penalties ?

The media darlings rhetoric has changed to:

1. Billy Sharp goading them (no one saw this other than one person) prior to being assaulted

2. Hecky riling the crowd by encouraging their player to get on with the throw in (which we did see and for which he was booked)

3. McBurnie stomping someone whilst wearing a surgical boot with a foot injury (which presumably has been assessed by professionals or he would be in the match day squad as the only fit striker)

The proximate cause of 1 and 3 was people being on the pitch who shouldn't have been there.

You can see the Media airbrushing history before your eyes.

This includes the Football league. Forest have had 6 pitch related incidents this season- 4 pitch invasions, Arsenal, Leicester, BDTBL, and last night, plus 2 assaults, Leicester fan (jailed) plus Billy. However, do one more, and the Football league might do something - spineless.

Welcome to the mainstream media in 2022.

His issue isn't just going to be that he's done time for an unprovoked cowardly assault, it's how publicised it's been.

How many firms will want that as a potential pitfall for them, in this day and age especially.

I've seen us receive demands to sack back office kids for FB comments under threat of moving business.

Don't get me wrong, I think some of it is utterly pathetic but today more than ever, companies are aware of their image due to how easy it is with social media to get their brand or reputation damaged.

It’s unlikely to completely fuck his life up, but it’s made it very shit for the next 6 months. He may get bummed, bum someone or neither, time will tell.

I was expecting he’d get longer to be honest, but I guess it wasn’t serious enough to go beyond the sentencing that the Magistrates can impose.

Slightly irrelevant, but didn’t the Police take credit for ‘swift work’, when he actually handed himself in 😂

Exactly, it's not that he was in a scrap after a football match, or anything like that. He attacked an innocent person, blind sided him with a headbutt, on TV (caught on camera), and has been in every major newspaper and on national TV news. He literally couldn't have screwed up more if he had tried.

The fat get.

A ban imposed by a Court means that if you break that ban, by for instance someone else buying you a ticket, and get spotted, caught, etc then you go back to the Court as you've broken the law.

A ban imposed by a Club is a bit pointless. If you go back in & get spotted, caught, etc, the club can/will just ask you to leave the premises. Which you should do, nice and quietly. There's very little comeback for breaking a club ban. Or so I'm told.... (winking emoji)

Why would this charge of going on the pitch be dropped?

“Biggs was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and going on to the playing area at a football match.

“The latter charge was dropped and he did not oppose an application for a football banning order during Thursday's hearing.”

Because the punishment would have been at most equal to the one he received for pleading guilty to the more serious offence. It was there mainly as a backup.

I had 6 pints before the match on Saturday but none at half time because I don't like drip tray dregs at £8 a pop.
I had several pints when I got home too and at no point felt like nutting anybody.

Apart from Gareth Ainsworth.

And Piers Morgan

And her across the road's gardener. Cunt.

And Gary Megson.

Sam Smith, Chris Waddle, Terry Curran, Robbie Williams, Hans Segers, that bloke who wrote my first car off, Patrick Bamford, Luke Ayling, CEO of Equitable Life back in the day who screwed me over to the tune of 16 grand, the ghost of Mark Chapman...
We didn't start the fire, it was always burning since the world's been turning😵

Similar scenes at Vale Park just now. Port Vale fans onto pitch & many of them with sole intent of getting at Swindon players. Fucking moronic bastards. Don’t expect owt to be done about it cos authorities are clueless & totally fuckin weak.

Same at Everton earlier as well. It's just got fucking insane now and no one is doing fuck all about it.

I've just mentioned this on Twitter, its so easy now for fans to smuggle flares into a football ground and we're also guilty of that, however at some point someone is going to take a weapon into a ground, where there's potential for a pitch invasion and injure someone. Not sure what the answer is but it could definitely happen if nothing is done to stop this type of thing

Totally agree. Thing is, if they decide to do something retrospectively to the clubs involved any punishments will be lost in a years worth of appeals & shit. Need a list of sanctions issuing asap in the event of any future incidents so all clubs know where they stand & what will happen if these scenarios are repeated. No punishment should be off the table for this. Point deductions, playing behind closed doors, massive fines. Don’t know what best solution is but something needs doing sooner rather than later.
