Sharp assaulted

Another issue is that we want our players to be available we want them to do community outreach work, we want them to be available pre and post match to sign shirts shake hands and meet kids, we want to have shared highs and shared lows with them we view them as extensions of ourselves representing something we and in many cases they love that may not be possible moving forward if the players are not safe doing so not only was Billy assaulted on the pitch last night but also JLT was accosted leaving the field.

Didn't our fans did a pitch invasion after we beat Forest at home in the FA Cup under Clough a few years back? And yes the promotion one. Of course there were a few on the pitch at QPR the other week.

But since I've been an adult, i've had any desire to get onto the pitch, so I don't understand why fans would do it. Its the reason why fences used to be up at football grounds.

Not condoning or condeming fans going on the pitch but i don't think theres a need for it. It's illegal, but like Pyro, nobody really cares when its done in good spirits and there are iconic images of fans doing it right to celebrate.

However, in two games at Huddersfield and Forest, the home fans who've won the tie decide to bring negative headlines to their clubs because of a few horrible twats for fans.

I've never disliked either of their fan bases before, but both seem to be crossing the line between celebrating and disorder. Now they just appear to be twats

We, as fans, don't need to go on the pitch, but nothing is ever done so fans will continue to do it. Wasn't there a video from the other week of a Millwall fan going round clipping the ears of fans on the pitch and getting them off the pitch whilst Stewards did nothing?

I didn't pay too much attention last night but if the Riot Police had stood around the perimeter with dogs in between the Stewards then there wouldn't be many fans on the pitch. Perhaps that has to be the way we go to stop it, at least until the players are off the pitch

As a side note, the EFL will take action on this, probably with a little fine.

If the FA and EFL are serious about this then they need to start issuing warnings to all clubs now. Then, if fans encroach onto the pitch in numbers then that stand gets closed for 3 games. If there is a pitch invasion from all sides, then all stands get closed for 3 games.... perhaps with Away fans only attending. Of course if away fans do it, then away match ban for one game and close one stand for their home game. It would soon stop.

We either take action and don't allow it (because of a few fans) or we just carry on an whinge about it until another serious incident like this. Next time it could be much, much worse
Going on the pitch is one thing.
Going on the pitch and assaulting someone is another.

And for the record, having seen the incident again, it does look like a headbutt. It didn't last night. But I was doped up on painkillers. Whoever called me a pig for getting that wrong my god.

Although not everybody is a "social media villian" that writes about football. I would like to say its welcoming to see fans from Leeds and Wednesday saying this isn't funny and is an assault and questioning the status quo between some. For me personally the EFL/FA with Nottingham Police/Forest ground stewards need to review the incident to see what can be done in future. I disagree the rest of the fans either on the pitch or in the stands should be punished but what happens if they do get in the Premier League and there is trouble when playing Leicester which will no doubt be in front of the cameras, if there is any trouble there it will be main headlines under the "Ugly football" and possible Sports Minister noted at Parliamentary committees etc.

Typical Pig backtracking ;)

Sharp has received 8 stitches, which obviously you get from being shoved over
Depends what you're shoved onto. If I shoved you onto a road and you fell on your head, you'd need stitches.

But jesus christ, I was doped up on painkillers, had the same view as everyone else and thought it looked like a shove. Why so many get uppity about that is anyones guess.

Love some forest fans justifying it by blaming Hecky. F**k off. There is no justification for some t**t running full pelters at a pedestrian and smashing into him with his head. You do that anywhere else but on a football pitch, you are going to jail mutherf**ker. Banning order for Forest, banning order for all other grounds, charged and sentenced for ABH (or GBH cannot remember which is more severe) and placed into a nick closest to Sheffield.

Let's be honest. If the situation was reversed and this was at Bramall Lane, is anyone seriously telling me that there wouldn't have been a pitch invasion? It's all well and good saying it wasn't stewarded properly, but how do you stop thousands from getting on the pitch with only a few hundred staff?
In 2003 when the situation was reversed a tiny minority of our fans went on, were booed, quickly went off, and the players were able to do a celebratory walk round the pitch holding a banner. And that was probably one of the most emotional games we’ve been in in my lifetime. So I don’t think there is an inevitability with these things. Have times changed since then? I feel we’ve generally speaking been fairly invasion-averse as fans, aside from Northampton away (when the numbers were v low due to our allocation).

Wednesday fan here, so sorry if i'm not welcome on your board, but I just wanted to say that I thought that what happened to Sharp was absolutely disgusting. Rivalries aside, I'm appauled that this happened. Hope the fan gets banned for life.

I just don't get why anyone would celebrate their team getting to Wembley by doing that. Utterly bizarre. Cowardly too, to run up on his blind side and then run off. He wouldn't have had the guts to do that to him in any other situation.

I was there when the Leeds fan did similar to Chris Kirlkland and although he didn't hurt him much, it was sickening to see an this looked worse.

The repercussions of this will be that for another 25 years we'll not be allowed to play Forest on a Saturday at their ground. Blades fans will end up being punished.

If Forest do fuck up in the play off final there'll be a ridiculous amount of aggro in both fixtures next season, my money would be on us coming out of the situation looking the worst if that happens.

Absolutely spot on. It needs to start from next season, with life time banning orders and £1,000 fines.

These things only rear their head in cup games and at the end of the season, so it’d be added incentive for the clubs to throw resource at stewarding or a larger Police, for these one off games. Having a load of local lads and lasses on NMW isn’t going to stop it. Not sure if there are such things as elite stewards though 😂

Appreciate it’s only a handful of idiots, but the majority do make it easier for these idiots to carry out assaults. I doubt the guy runs on alone to do it.

Thanks for your concern.

What about the pig who smacked Clint Hill?

Thats not on. Someone, a player, fan, official is going to get seriously hurt following a pitch invasion. I mean life threatening hurt. I've no wish to punish the genuine fans but the suits have to throw the book at Nottm For. Massive fine. In the region at £1m. Empty stadium for the first three games of next season, irrespective of which league they are in. Lifetime ban for fan. 5 years inside for assault.
In reality, I suspect the suits will issue a meagre fine and a slap on the wrist warning. No bottle.

But perhaps even the harsher of punishments won't deter some of the moronic fringe who frequent football stadiums.

was always gonna happen an incident like that everything a pitch invasion happens some fans go for players

The Lad who ran on the pitch at QPR got 3 years banning apparently , why is it different when 10k do it ?

Jokes on the fat c@@@ who attacked Sharp as he will be serving a long stretch probably 5 years and has ruined his life

*Common Assault
ABH - Actual bodily harm - as it sounds
GBH - Grievous bodily harm (usually broken something on victim like leg etc)

Depending on the CPS they have 3 options as above in order of severity it won't be GBH as no skull fracture.

ABH is possible however they might decide to combine Common Assault with a Football Related Public order offence.
Common Assault is easier to convict as 2 obvious breaches however with it being caught on camera they may deicide to go after ABH to set an example.
Max sentence is 5 years on ABH (doubt it would be that high) on common assault max sentence is 6 months.

You lost son? This is a Championship forum.

Have we really got people suggesting searching for someone's employer because they've tweeted something pathetic about this incident?

Go on and call them a cunt by all means but reporting them to their employer? Jesus 🙈
