I thought you could be done in the passenger seat if you were pissed? If you had control over the car in any way.

And surely if he was on his own then how did he get there or was planning to get home?

What an pillock. He's been a total waste of money and now this.

I hope he's being fined.

It’s very near his house, I’d imagine he was on the way home drunk and passed a police car so he panicked and quickly shot in the park thinking the police wouldn’t see him if they did turn around and look for him.
Evening officer

Why didn't he just quietly accept the charges instead of having it plastered all over the news that he was found at a well known dogging site

my mate did similar laid on back seat sleeping it off still got banned, if he still lives in leeds job going as a driver

I worked with a bloke that did the same, the coppers woke him up the next morning and he blew over and was banned.

I’ve heard people say you should leave the car key outside the car and you can’t get done.

Only 1 article from the sun a few years ago of any confirmed dogging activity in that nature reserve. Assume the players will be giving him shit for this and he'll have a new nickname.

A Championship footballer has appeared in court charged with drink driving.

Former Leeds United player Jamie Shackleton, who is now at Sheffield United, appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Wednesday accused of being in charge of a motor vehicle when over the prescribed limit.

The court heard the 25-year-old blew 73 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath during a breathalyser test, more than double the legal limit of 35, after he was arrested at the Fairburn Ings nature reserve in Castleford on 21 December.

Mr Shackleton denied the offence and a trial date was set for 12 June at the same court.
Prosecuting, Melanie Ibbotson said police officers found Mr Shackleton, of Dovecote Drive in Ledston, Castleford, in the driving seat of a vehicle parked at the nature reserve.

The vehicle's lights were switched on, but its engine was not running, she said.

Mr Shackleton's solicitor Ben Whittingham said his client disputed being "in charge" of the vehicle.

Dressed in a suit, Mr Shackleton spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

He has made 12 appearances for the Blades since joining the club in July 2024. He came through the Leeds United academy.

Maybe not as bad as

Maybe not as bad as Mousett banging into a few cars on Abbeydale Road 🤔

Easily explained... Jamie's partner is a keen ornithologist and wanted to stop at a bird hide on their way home. Shaks wasn't keen as it was cold so stayed in the car. Unfortunately his missus got lost and ended up walking home when she happened across the main road. Shaks had a wee snifter of whisky to keep warm and the lights were on the vehicle so he could keep a look out for her. And that is when the police arrived, your honour.

The club should dismiss him. There’s absolutely no excuse for drink driving, especially when you’re on the money he earns in a month. I’ve seen first hand the pain families go through when they lose a loved one to drunk drivers. Footballers are supposed to be role models and the club should do the right thing and make a stand and sack him.

Bit disappointed after your fans forum tonight?

Castleford

  • Fairburn Ings, come off the A656 onto Newton Lane, past the industrial units, and the first car park on the right is a good spot with couples action after 9pm.
what is the world coming to that man cant see some great tits & dog in peace

Read this thread. Have we signed someone unannounced who's immediately taken his signing bonus, gone on the piss and then got pinged, or is in relation to an existing player that I can't work out?

We don’t know what time it happened or who he was with. How much is the amount he’s been breathalysed at likely to be in pints? I know it’s dependent on the person, over what time frame etc. The limit is about 1 pint, so is double literally 2 pints?

Maybe he’d gone for a pub meal with his missus, had two pints, then gone for a walk after?

Less zesty than the dogging angle, but more likely.
