Because they are better than our lot. it is gallows humour out of controlBut what happened to abusing the opposition players/fans?
I can't remember the last time a visiting team got some grief from our lot.

If George long was a 32 Italian he'd have been on his bike a long time ago. are we suppose to wait around for him to get to a decent standard before we can expect promotion? Not good enough and hopefully some vocal pressure directed towards him will force the club to act and bring in a decent keeper.
Nope he's not good enough. But was it really necessary for a fair number of idiots to jeer him or cheer sarcastically when he got the ball?
What a load of balls. He isn't the problem, he is a symptom of the problem. People are attacking a blemish on the skin, when the Cancer is underneath, eating away at the club. Long is shit, pretty terrible in fact when he's having "one of those days" but we should never be booing our own players during a game. It's completely self defeating.Sadly I think it was yes, the issue needs to be forcde, he is a major weak link and it wouldn't surprise me if now after that he is replaced with an experienced keeper.
I never joined in as I think the problems started here while George was still riding a bike with stabilisers and I hope that it's McCabes turn next then I will join in because he's destroying us and getting away with it, with others like George long Adkins clough Hammond brayford Jim Phipps Gary sinclair's replacement etc etc are easy targets for fans to deflect the blame from our glorious leader.

And no, before people get their pants in a twist.. It's not the fans fault we lost, or that we suck.. None of that is any of the fans fault at all, but you are directing your bile and hatred at the wrong people. When a player isn't good enough, it's up to the management team to figure that out and deal with the problem - Not for the fans to act like a bunch of pack animals and hound them out of the club.
I agree that it needs to be directed elsewhere but we shouldn't just put up with shit like George long either.

Yep. We're the morons at BL.Yep. We have some morons attending BL.
Where in my post did I say we should put up with it? Please, just point out where I said that.
The performances of brayford, hussey, o'connell(tonight), basham, and sharp have been equally as disgraceful yet none of them get booed?Granted none of that is longs fault.. but what is his fault is the disgraceful performances he's showing.
Where did I say he was the problem, if you're playing those games.
I can understand why fans are venting their frustrations towards him. He cost us points in the season under Wilson, he was dire the season after too, he's made errors every season in fact. He's an awful keeper. Why cannot fans vent their disbelief that he's still our number 1? Because he's a local lad? Because he's young? I 100% agree he's not the cause or totally to blame but there is not way he should be exempt from any sort of vocal criticism. I wish the boos and chants were directed towards McCabe and if so I would have joined in but I can see why he got stick and it's fair enough.
It's a disgrace, pure and simple. And his team mates will see for themselves how our fans can be nothing other than scum.
Basically destroying the kid....one of our own players....it's not as if he is doing it on purpose, and in a position to run his balls off to put it right.
I fear that when he really needed the fans to rally for him and encourage him they made it impossible for him to play for the club again.
I hope he goes on to ram it down those fans throats some time in the future.
Do you think Long will be happy with his performance?
It is absolute nonsense to suggest fan pressure should force the hand of the club to pick the team. Long may well be struggling, but how is booing and jeering the lad helping the team?
We are supposed to support our team, not strive to destroy it for the sake of getting your own way. The fans in the terraces are just that, "fans".
Most have hardly kicked a ball beyond PE in school, never mind have any insight into the game at pro level. Their opinions should be kept between them and not directed at the club. There should be one person picking the players and the team and that is the manager.
So what next? Fuck the lad off and have to find more players? More money....more debt?
Wake up folks.....as the song goes...."we ain't got a barrel of money", we ain't going to buy our way up....we have to back these players and the manager to get the very best they can offer the club from them. They aren't superstars and robots, they are league one footballers, and human.
It's pretty obvious he's mentally weak, another reason he shouldn't be number 1 at this stage in his career. He doesn't have the character to command, instruct or bollock his defence. He crumbled at gillingham when Collins berated him and he looks shot at times when the crowd get on his back and hopefully he's now taken out of the frame as it will only get worse. It's a poisonous atmosphere at the best of times down here now and we need strong characters to cope with that, unfortunately he isn't one of those.Do it after games. As a Goalkeeper myself, I can tell you honestly.. Being able to hear criticism from around you, is absolutely crippling. A Goalkeeper needs more concentration than the rest.. It's hard to do when behind you is 100s of people hurling constant abuse.

The abuse from the kop is cringeworthy and counter productive. I hate it, but we should remember it only starts after Long has fucked up.....again.
Sticking with Long was Wilder's first big mistake. One I'm sure he'll rectify shorty.

No amount of rallying, clapping etc will make George Long better. In short, he's rubbish. Harsh, but true. I'm sure he's a lovely lad, I'm sure he's a Blade but he would not be in net if he wasn't a product of the academy. He is being played on nothing but blind faith. Almost to prove a point that the academy is working.
I didn't boo but there are many comments saying it won't help. I don't think helping is the purpose of the booing. People are fed up and it's sad for George he is getting booed. I wish he was Alan Kelly but he is nowhere near and never will be.
This isnt George Long FC. We don't have the time, money or energy to wait five years for him to make a decision, come for a cross or speak to his defence and *maybe* become a half decent keeper.
Give me a competent (not perfect I might add) goalkeeper and I'll clap all day long.
Not around me, and I was confronting quite a few who did it.It started from the off tonight.

What's for sure is that he's a poor keeper first and foremost.

Perhaps so, but poor as though it is, it really isn't the root cause of his poor performance. And I promise you, I'm not apologising for it.First time he touched the ball. Clear to hear in the South Stand.
So rubbish that he made England sides.....so rubbish at such a young age he was playing first team games.
If you ar daft enough to believe he is simply rubbish then more fool you. He has to be showing ability or he wouldn't be here. Lots of players have been booted out Blade or not.
He's out of form, completely shot of confidence and at the moment I reckon wants to be anywhere but playing for the club.
Nobody is saying we have to wait and cannot replace him, but what can be done is try and encourage him to get better, help him gain confidence and in turn get "his best" from him. That's a better prospect for success than destroying the lad,
We will get your wish. He will go, we will replace him and guess what? That keeper will fuck up too....as will the Hussey replacement...and the Brayford...etc etc.
Collecting a ball safely in the area deserves jeers? Really? Catching a high ball cleanly deserves being ridiculed? Give him stick for mistakes but he was targeted from the off by some of the "best fans in the land".

There are some really thick fuckers who follow football. Throw is the inevitable frustration of our now legendary under achievement, and we've got the perfect recipe for counter productive fan reactions.Never thought you were and of course it's not the root cause but what do these people think - if they do - it does to his already fragile confidence? It's group bullying and is just pathetic as the chavs acting up at safe away games.
