Sadly I think it was yes, the issue needs to be forcde, he is a major weak link and it wouldn't surprise me if now after that he is replaced with an experienced keeper.

I never joined in as I think the problems started here while George was still riding a bike with stabilisers and I hope that it's McCabes turn next then I will join in because he's destroying us and getting away with it, with others like George long Adkins clough Hammond brayford Jim Phipps Gary sinclair's replacement etc etc are easy targets for fans to deflect the blame from our glorious leader.

It is absolute nonsense to suggest fan pressure should force the hand of the club to pick the team. Long may well be struggling, but how is booing and jeering the lad helping the team?
We are supposed to support our team, not strive to destroy it for the sake of getting your own way. The fans in the terraces are just that, "fans".
Most have hardly kicked a ball beyond PE in school,never mind have any insight into the game at pro level. Their opinions should be kept between them and not directed at the club. There should be one person picking the players and the team and that is the manager.

So what next? Fuck the lad off and have to find more players? More money....more debt?

Do it after games. As a Goalkeeper myself, I can tell you honestly.. Being able to hear criticism from around you, is absolutely crippling. A Goalkeeper needs more concentration than the rest.. It's hard to do when behind you is 100s of people hurling constant abuse.

It's a disgrace, pure and simple. And his team mates will see for themselves how our fans can be nothing other than scum.
Basically destroying the kid....one of our own players....it's not as if he is doing it on purpose, and in a position to run his balls off to put it right.
I fear that when he really needed the fans to rally for him and encourage him they made it impossible for him to play for the club again.

Do it after games. As a Goalkeeper myself, I can tell you honestly.. Being able to hear criticism from around you, is absolutely crippling. A Goalkeeper needs more concentration than the rest.. It's hard to do when behind you is 100s of people hurling constant abuse.

It's pretty obvious he's mentally weak, another reason he shouldn't be number 1 at this stage in his career. He doesn't have the character to command, instruct or bollock his defence. He crumbled at gillingham when Collins berated him and he looks shot at times when the crowd get on his back and hopefully he's now taken out of the frame as it will only get worse. It's a poisonous atmosphere at the best of times down here now and we need strong characters to cope with that, unfortunately he isn't one of those.

Collecting a ball safely in the area deserves jeers? Really? Catching a high ball cleanly deserves being ridiculed? Give him stick for mistakes but he was targeted from the off by some of the "best fans in the land".

I'm aware he is mentally weak. I think he is lacking in pretty much all areas, but our fans constantly say someone that gives it their all won't get abuse, even if they aren't very good enough. Long is the epitome of giving his all, but not being very good - And he gets much worse abuse than any opposition I've seen in a long time.

Playing for England youth sides is always a positive sign but equally plenty of players play at that level and go on to do nothing in the game.

Long has to be judged on his performances, and as I've said about so many others: he's not good enough. You can't get promoted while having players in the side that regularly directly cost you points the way Long does.

I feel bad for him, I do. I won't ever boo a player for lack of ability (I haven't ever booed a player, actually). If he could choose to be better I'm sure he would. But none of that get us past the simple fact that he's been a regular member of a team that hasn't met the standards we as fans can reasonably demand from the club. It's not a dip in form with him, it's consistent failure.

If today's errors were a one off absolutely not. He looks like his gloves have been dipped in Vaseline at times. He's paying for years of mistakes. Listen, I'd love an academy lad to come through and be the bees knees. George isn't. The last thing I was thinking at 0-3 tonight was George's international recognition. Do you realise how many kids get called up?

As for being out of form, please refer me to when George Long has had a period of form playing for us. An occasional fuck up is acceptable. With George, it's expected.

And to be shot of confidence, you needed the confidence in the first place. For a big lad, George is as timid as they come and for me that's just who he is, it's a personality thing. Bar the booing in the last couple of games, United fans have been great with him.

Just watched the second goal and i think it was more Hussey than long that was at fault even though at the game I was convinced it was Long. If so Long is being a scapegoat for others incompetence the poor sod. I still want him replacing though tbh.
