The question to ask yourself is - If it was my son, daughter, husband, wife etc etc, Would I want it to be swept under the carpet, forgotten or the truth not brought to the fore?

saying we should stop remembering people within our own community

Paltrow and Coldplay twat uncoupling?
If you are going to pick an argument please use facts. Where in my posts have I said we should stop remembering?

I have argued we should do it with respect in our own way. They are making a pantomime of it not only 1 minutes silence that I will as always respect but 96 empty seats and changing the KO time.

And what has Paltrow got to so with anything? That and your rememberance comments are disrespectful!

Bad news for those of you so put out by people wanting to find out what really happened to their sons, daughters, fathers and brothers. Inquest will take a year. Surprised any football going person, especially those in Sheffield, wants it all out of the public eye!

I think it's right to mark the 25th anniversary in this way but I hate the fact that this tragidy keeps bringing Sheffield down, it's all this city is famous for these days. To most people Sheffield is just A site of tragidy and not the city of steel.

Don't think anyone has said they want it out of the public eye. Quite the opposite (TBH I think the inquest should be covered live in the public interest, sod Sheffield's reputation), I think football fans are united in wanting the absolute truth to come out and justice to be done and seen to be done. The families have worked tirelessly for 25 years to get their day in court and that's where this sad story should be concluded, however long it takes and whoever is found at fault.

Hopefully this inquest will give closure to these families. A quarter of a century is long time to fight for justice.

Just reading the details of the victims, how they travelled to the ground and who with has a real impact. No one should go to a football match and not return home. For what ever the reason, whatever the route cause friends dads sons mothers and daughters should return home after a game.

It doesn't bare thinking about getting driving to the match in 2 weeks with my best mate and having to drive home alone. Living in view of that end of the ground is a constant reminder of the tragedy that took place that day.

Justice should be found for the 96 and it starts today in a court of law where I am sure the real truth will be found. A minutes silence I will respect along with the rest of the Wembley crowd but do they really need the 96 seats and delaying of the kick off just seems a bit of overkill to me

FFS.

I agree the 96 seats is a bit gimmicky as is the late kick off but you know what? I really do not care. 25 years ago 96 people were just as excited about an fa cup semi final as we are right now and never came home.

It seems slightly illogical offering 96 seats anyway - assuming every individual who died had a family member alive still. That would mean that they have to sit alone.

Pretty much nail on the head right there. A very very meaningless gesture from the FA.

Here is essentially one ticket for the FA Cup semi-final to watch two teams you have no interest in.

Who on earth thought that gesture up needs the sack.

Twenty five years ago today, for those of you who are old enough. Two weeks Last thursday at 11 a.m. for you who aren't. can you in all honesty remember, down to the finest detail what you were doing?

Anyone who attended on that fateful day will have their own vivid rcollection of where they were, what they did. and what could have been done differently
.
Unfortunately in grief, even in general termsl the memory plays tricks on us all. It will be etched in stone and probably no outside influences will change things. 96 people perished. May they Rest In Peace.

I sincerely hope that the Inquest, now in its early stages will get closer to the truth of what took place. Its scope should be far wider than the Taylor enquiry, but IMO some inconvenient truths will be brushed under the carpet by ALL SIDES involved. and we may end up as we are, with bitterness rather than peace

I will keep a close eye on these proceedings. Yes. I know I lead a very sad life. It is a situation IMO without resolution.. 96 RIP

I don't think it should be forgotten and i'm glad the truth is now finally getting out.
But i don't really see what it has to do with our game. Yes it's a cup semi, but thats the only similarity.
Different venue, different clubs. It should be down to Liverpool to mark the disaster really, in whatever way they see fit to.
Of course the relatives don't want to traipse off to Wembley to watch Sheff Utd play Hull, why on earth would they??
Bizarre gesture from the FA. If they want to do something, give the families some compensation.

Minutes silence if you want, we have em every other week now anyway. But beyond that anything else seems pointless.

A band leading the whole crowd singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' would be a more fitting memorial or this would be something that the crowd itself could generate and it would be more heartfelt I would have thought?

I don't know the proper description but I think commemorations based on numbers empty gestures anyway. 'Retiring the shirt', pointless, Kicking off at 1:25 p.m. to mark 125 years... contrived and it didn't help the team much either. That said , I get the delayed kick-off.

As for the vacant seats and how this goes down among the surviving relations? well I don't suppose they think highly of the FA's decision making capabilities and if it isn't publicised by TV, this empty gesture would pass without trace.

The re-built football grounds of England are the real legacy and reminder of the disaster.

One thing that i have noticed is nowadays there seems to be a lot of the younger element who seem to have a very loud opinion about the Hillsborough disaster but can't remember it happening, and therefore not have the memories of seeing 96 people perish at a football match.

I have no objection about the 96 seats, or the odd kick off time. I think it is a nice tribute, and an ever nicer touch from the families to give them away as freebies.

Yes ok wrong word choice I accept. Are you saying though 25 years on is any different for the families of the deceased than 18 years on or 12 years on and did we have delayed kick offs and 96 empty seats for them semi finals. No we didn't so you get the original post and what was meant from it empty gesture and gimmick probably to ease the minds of the FA
