Or its a new manager trying to put together his team, and get them playing in the style he wants to play in parallel with the club having sold three key, experienced players and only replacing one of them with a relatively young unproven, but potentially exciting player . Also , its unclear if the owners have a master plan that will unravel in the next two weeks - or they are indeed Chaotic, Divided and Clueless (CDC)

The current chaos IMO is not of his making.

Football is a harsh sport, but somethings need to happen, we are not entitled as a fan base to have a successful team, and I think that most blades know and understand that, but we still must have levels that we should be able to compete at as a club and at the minute we are not competing at those levels in my opinion and yes, we need new players, but also we have enough to be better than this, and that sits with the current below par standard manager. The manager needs to stop spitting the dummy out, realise that the current system is not suiting the players, they are not performing for him, and that he is making a bad situation even worse than it needs to be.

Point of the question being that if we do manage to land one then he's very likely to be the sort of player we've not had since the days of Morgan.

It's very easy to jump on Selles but with the personnel available to pick from would Wilder or any manager we could have appointed picked a much different team? We have sold the spine of the team and two of the Championships best players included in that who have both been replaced by inexperienced kids with promise but not up to speed at this level. That said I think Selles could be over complicating things for the players who need to get back to basics and do their jobs until we bring in more quality. We can't be doing with players sulking and having a half arsed attitude because their old gaffer got sacked and a few of their mates have moved on to better things abroad. A fish rots from the head down the clueless yank owners set this load of bollocks in motion.
Imagine thinking an online poker player can find footballers good enough to go into a team in the Championship one of the best leagues in Europe. They might be top players in Bulgaria, Montenegro or San Marino but they will not cut it in England. Even coming from better leagues it will take time to learn how to play over here where you can't just stroll about.

I don’t think the style of play he’s trying to implement is workable at this level, it leaves the defence massively overexposed to a counter attack and teams will pick us off at will. I don’t think the players believe in it, I’m not even sure they know what they’re supposed to be doing within his system?

I’m not sure the players are entirely behind the new manager, he’s trying to sell a complete root and branch overhaul of styles, to a group of lads who amassed 92 points playing the style he’s trying to replace? So it’s understandable that many of them look like their heart isn’t in it, quite as much as the managers.

Personally, I agreed that the club needed a change in manager, but I don’t believe that they’ve chosen wisely. How they ever came to select Selles, with all of the experienced managers available with proven CVs, only they will know, but he is clearly not the man. I was prepared to give him a chance, but his public bollocking of the players on the pitch post Bristol City was a huge red flag. That was a ‘look at me’ ‘see my passion’ moment, that will have done nothing to get the players onside and I believe provided a public glimpse of a man management style that will not be popular with many of the squad. I think we need to get rid sooner, rather than later……..

Oh and them bloody stars on his elbows, I fully accept I might be old fashioned, but I can’t take him seriously with them, sorry but he looks like he should be working on the fucking Waltzers, not managing my football team

At that point we had:

We've brought in three youngsters in Bindon, Soumare and Barry, but this start wasn't going to be easy and exclusively putting the defeats down to the managerial change seems ott.

Completely agree. The one thing Selles couldn’t afford was a poor start, and this has been a bit of a disaster. It’s a huge week for the club, imo the squad is 7 short (without anyone else leaving) and at least 3 need to be signed next week. If they don’t and next week is poor again, it’s going to turn extremely quickly against manager and board.

Yep get that, opinions differ, just think that the manager, owners and players need to start acting like at least a mid table Championship club, we should be at least that and today was unacceptable. I don't think that we as fans are an entitled bunch and are ok to expect a team that can compete within the division, not saying that we should be auto top 6, but at present the club as whole is underperforming for me, irrespective of players coming in, we have enough in the building to be better than this.

Whatever it was, a discussion or a bollocking, after a humiliating 4-1 defeat, I don’t think it too presumptuous to assume he wasn’t praising them for a great performance?

Irrespective of what was said or how he said it and to whom, it is something that should have been conducted in the privacy of the dressing room.

Seems to me the standard of our football has carried on from the second half of the play off game. The players will be deflated, looking for direction. Selles has inherited a team of losers, disoriented with no direction. The loss of players will add to this and he has to try and pick them up, give them direction, the owners seem not to be backing him which makes matters much worse. Give him some space, the owners need to support him and give him funds to build his own team which is not done in a couple of weeks. New players will need time to integrate into the system, I doubt Wilder would have done any better. Why does everyone need it NOW and get great pleasure in calling someone out because they think that they could do better? Give him some respect!

He has been let down with key players being sold before replacements were lined up. However, this side should still be performing better than it is.
At the risk of getting pelters, if Wilder was still manager I do not think we lose either of our first two league matches.

The thing that scares me is, if Selles fails the club will likely never take the risk and appoint a European manager again. It took years and a change in ownership to recover from the failed Jokanovic project.

If we went from Wilder to Cooper it would have been pointless, we’ve tried summat different, it won’t work because no matter who owns or runs us they do it wrong and our fans hate blokes who aren’t from England, Scotland or Wales so they want these weird foreigners to fail.

We’ll end up close to back where we’ve started though after wasting a summer and 1/3 of the season. Pointless
