Wilder

It as an absolute fucking joke.
If this is the vision of the owners, I hope it all goes tits up for them.
The sheer thought of wilder coming back is making me feel physically sick !
Relegation has the same effect on me.

From a website - eflanalysis.com:

Tony Mowbray joins Sheffield United shortlist as Blades look for new approach

Fabulous journalists - F**king morons more like - if that happens I’m done until we get new owners (and a new manager)

my question with selles would be what changed after the Bristol city game. as that 1st half. it was the best id seen us in attack in many years. we looked exciting. then he changed something after 4-1 & bar 30 mins v millwall we never looked like scoring again

Well reasoned but I see the argument predicated on a couple of things
1. the new manager following the same path as Selles
2. The current predicament is as down to the players and their attitudes towards Selles as it is Selles tactics.

Neither of those elements are true IMO.

If I were the new manager the first thing I’d do is to ensure we don’t concede. Just to get at least a point on the board. That would mean 5 at the back, with Burrows and Seriki as wing backs.
Then I’d play Soumare with Matos and Hamer in midfield.
With Campbell and Ings ( if fit) or One up top.
I’d put Mee in the back three to add some experience, probably with McG and of course Tanga.
I’d dispense with the gung-ho, weak pressing and weak wingers until we’d steadied the ship.

Any manager worth their salt will probably do very similar to begin with.
I got really bored with 5 at the back towards the end but I’m really open to it now with these players (especially the defence). Still can play wingers if needed in a game by going 3-4-3. But I think we’d see the best out of Burrows and Seriki by allowing them to to get forward whilst having more cover

Given the Right Backs we've got available until Jan at least 3 Centre Backs with Burrows and Seriki at wing Backs makes the most sense.
Godfrey at fullback is no longer an option.

Hopefully he will be meeting players today in private and having an open discussion about them and what he expects and start building a bond between old and new players

They're still frozen and are back in the team disguised as Tom Cannon, Andre Brooks, Louis Barry & Sam McCallum!
At least Cannon scored a goal under Wilder, that’s a slight improvement.

I think he’ll get rid of Barry

He will need a hell of a lot of luck, because he's not managing in the UK any time soon after everybody has seen what he did here..
I don't think he gets another Championship job, but someone in L1 might still take him.

The reputation he built for himself at Reading got him the Hull job.

That then got him the Blades job, and now he needs to rebuild that reputation, either abroad or in L1.

Will he go back to L1 is another question though?

This is what they should have done prior to his dismissal. Explain to Wilder this is the direction we want to go(DOF-Coach). And we need you to part of that strategy/process for the next 12 months. And, here’s a golden handshake for doing so.
Quite right and also tell him he will be given due consideration for the DoF role

I can’t imagine him getting another job in the EFL let alone Champ. He showed total incompetence, no leadership and devoid of any tactical ability. I’ve no idea how he got the job in the first place. Gullible Americans swayed by a Spanish accent?

Shame it ended like this. Don't think anyone wanted him to fail. Seems a genuinely good bloke. Stood up to all the British, took responsibility and his ideas for play are good.

He just cannot implement them at all. Something massively lacking as a head coach. Might do better as an assistant somewhere

I don’t want Wilder back, he’s a busted flush here, the thought process of this board so far has been fucking atrocious!
I agree totally.

But to be fair to Wilder, he can’t do any worse. These owners are about as much use as a fart in a spacesuit. They will beg CW to come back and he can dictate how much he gets paid, and how much control he has.

Although to be honest, maybe more control might be better. Because giving this board the recruitment control has been like giving a monkey a machine gun.

There have been worse times to be sure, but it’s just the cluelessness of it all.

The club has been turned into a joke

Selles is upset and hurt, he was given a verbal assurance he’d get at least The Charlton and Oxford games during the International break but a combination of the second half surrender to Ipswich and a player revolt lead to this.

Board was split on whether to re-appoint Wilder or look at other targets but have decided they need someone in to hit the ground running, rather than go through a 2 week interview process. Other names being seriously considered were John Mousinho and Steven Gerrard.

Interesting to see Thomas Frank's start at Brentford, 1 win, 1 draw in first 10 games. Mind you I don't think there was an argument for patience with Selles, had shown little in any of the games and felt like he lost the dressing room, players not playing for him. Part of me a little disappointed we will only even be Wilder FC, but feels like potentially the best compromise at this point in time.

Mousinho.. yet we ended up with Wilder. Embarrassing

Mousinho should have been who we went for in the summer. Appointing Selles has turned out to be a huge mistake, and the way it appears it is being dealt with will set the club back and ensure the fans continue to be polarised and divided for a good while to come.

Mousinho would have been my choice,

if they were seriously considering Gerrard though…. Fuck my life!

If true, that Wilder was only prioritised to avoid interview process, then Assume it would only short term contract with a possible performance related extension?

Wouldn't mind taking a look at Mousinho at end of season if things don't work out with Wilder mk 3.

Gerrard on the other hand.. 🤷‍♂️
