My hope for Ipswich is we have some semblance of shape / plan
Doubt it. Love how he's worked on a style all summer of this attacking football that we were promised and yeah okay we got battered 1-4 first game of season, but then to totally rip it up after 1 game and now struggle to get out of our own half and look out of ideas already is worrying. He's had 2 weeks with them on the training ground over the international break. Has to win to keep his job imo tonight

I'm hoping United are a little like England under Tuchel.

They've been absolutely dross then all of a sudden, last night, it clicked! They settled into his system and ideas and smashed 5 past the hardest team in the group.

Tuchel has had the luxury of being head and shoulders better than the other teams, so has still got the results. The Championship is much more competitive, so Selles doesn't have the luxury.

Let's give him 5 more games

Here’s hoping… 🤞😬

Wilder lost 3 and drew one of his first 4 games.

I am not saying Selles is going to come good (Not even saying we should keep him) but isn't there a bit of irony that we talk about Wilder and what he "would have done" with this team, but we talk about Selles as if he has zero chance to turn it around?
But..
Selles inherited a team that had won 92 points and narrowly lost out on promotion at Wembley. Crissey inherited a team that was broken playing turgid football and left Bramall lane with that famous Adkins' walk of shame!

11 players from that 92 point team didn’t start the first game.

One of the contributory factors to wilder getting the boot was his complete inability to look any further than the current season. His squad planning and development during his whole time here was appalling and on more than one occasion has resulted in double digits of players leaving at the end of the season, usually for less than we paid for the them.

He really gets some crap stick doesn’t he .

Perhaps you try to run the club with a hand tied behind your back financially. He worked wonders last season and yea he failed in the end but FFS come on .

He was looking 👀 very much to the future with Berge / Brewster but the club had no sound robust infrastructure to build on . Therefore margin of error was so small compared to other clubs in the Prem .

Like Hecky before him he had to work miracles to get us to the top of the league - turning an embarrassing rabble who were relegated from the Prem into real contention for promotion.

I think it was time for him to go but come on the utter shit he gets is crazy .

Be careful what we wish for - look at us now

But also he lost 2 members of the spine of the team. Would it have made any difference who knows

Something in his Ipswich pre match interview that he muttered " try to beat our opponent, make a good performance...then we take it from that"......makes me thinks its his last game if the current hopeless trend continues.

We lost some players but there’s loads of quality there.

Until someone can rationally explain to me how is looking much worse than Sheffield Wednesday is anything but a startlingly bad managerial effort, I’ll remain of the view that this lad way, way out of his depth.

Wilder is wise enough to realise if you don't get instant results you won't be around for the squad to develop. We had 8 players who'd played a significant part in the season before start against Bristol City. Could have been 9 if Sellés hadn't been stupid enough to leave Robinson on the bench.

They need to show something tonight regardless of result. Hard to see him surviving much longer if we are well beaten again.

In the last match it looked as though the players were not playing for him. If that happens tonight, no amount of technical / formation / personnel changes will be of benefit.
If they respect him and his coaches we have a chance, if not he has to take a long walk off a short plank

So wilder put his own job ahead of what was best for the club? Interesting.

The changes the club want to make are likely going to take a couple of years, and they probably won’t get everything right first time, but the club should be in a healthier position rather than its future being tied to whether or not the man in charge can over perform for a season.

Some people look for anything they can to try to discredit Wilder. It's a shame and it's rather sad, but hey ho.

I think that's a very strange way to interpret it. His own job was to make us successful.

I dont imagine you have any idea what changes the club are making but I hope you're right. Certainly started off brilliantly.

Apparently there were some positives to take from last night's game. According to Selles.

I'll give him that we controlled possession for large periods and pressed well.

We also created zilch. Again.

And easily could have conceded another 3 goals.

And those last two lines are what matters.

If we are scraping the barrel:
  • matos looked decent for 55 mins
  • we had a couple of weak shots on target
  • Tanganga was solid
  • peck played better with someone near him
  • Godfrey made us realise that Seriki isn’t that bad it’s the formation that leaves both full backs wide open
