Selles presser after the game


Realistically, after a 5-0 loss and the run he's on, there was nothing he could say.

I'll give him credit for not hiding and for accepting accountability.

That's where the credit ends though. Sadly, it's a failed experiment... in a season where we couldn't afford to experiment.

The owners need to realise that they might be intelligent in their business fields, but football is new to them and there isn't a magic (AI) formula that will outsmart the competition with vastly superior resources.

They've fucked up the headstart they had on the rest of the division in re: having more revenue (parachutes) and a settled squad / manager..

Time to eat some humble pie, sack Selles and make an intelligent decision.

Off topic, but what happened with Des Taylor? In him, they at least had somebody with a football brain...
 
I think we were the better team and played well for more than twenty minutes as well. We finally looked like a team with a plan, their heads didn't immediately drop after the first goal either.

Didn't make it count though, not good enough end product from Burrows, Brooks or Barry, and then the defending...
 
They paid £100m+ for the club (though likely not out of their own pockets).

Was their big idea really just to back this poker player's software to propel us up the leagues?
A weird strategy that they've now seemingly abandoned..

There was no obvious recruitment strategy. They filled the ESC slots with total unknowns with bizarre links to said poker player.

They sacked Wilder and replaced him with Selles who'd been sacked by Hull...
No news on the training ground or academy.. loads of departures behind the scenes.

We're no clearer on what their plan is as they continue to hide in silence.
They seemingly don't see communication with their customers as particularly necessary...

What's the craic?

At least Selles has a pair of bollocks on him.

We were the better team first half in terms of overall possession and press. And dictating the game.

Yet 0 shots on target and Ipswich not only scored but should have scored at least one more with a glorious chance plus a few others.

If we had continued our good performance all the way through the 2nd half we still would have lost 3-0 or so.

Selles has to go.

But as complicated as football can be in this day and age the facts are.

You don't win games by not creating chances.
And you don't lose games if you restrict the opposition to as few chances as possible.

Good post….very much agree.

I also thought we looked “OK” first half but altho their goal was lucky….they had 2 other excellent chances where Cooper pulled off really good saves.
Didn’t think Ipswich were that good but I’ve no doubt….losing 1-0 at half time was a fair reflection of that 1st half based on chances.

We don’t look too bad regards general play keeping possession in midfield but the facts keep showing we struggle to create chances
whereas the opposition find it easy to create chances against us. So it’s no surprise we keep losing.

I don't disagree however players that couldn't pass water last night. Do these get a free pass? as soon as they scored the heads dropped unacceptable do they decide when they want to play don't the travelling fans matter? Embarressment the lot of them and I include Selles in that.
 

Football managers are basically the same as other professionals like politicians, businessmen,economists, scientists,historians and so on,they are all convinced that their particular beliefs on how to go about their chosen path is absolutely correct and a winning formula that they can't wait to foist on the world,a few are brilliant,some are competent and some are crackers,the variables and the things that are not within their control or the blind optimism that they can't see obvious flaws in their methods are just a few of the reasons that seperate them all in their degrees of competency....in political analogy,Selles is the Liz Truss of football...he has a low ceiling limit for how successful his particular beliefs will work.
 
I've just read his comments after last night's shit show and this dickhead really does.make my piss boil, what a fucking clueless,.inept brainless turd we have as a manager, the board and this clown has now set us up for 10 years of absolute mediocrity, bumbling around league one and the championship, it really is sickening

We looked half decent for a change in midfield due to a DCM being there to shore up Peck.
Ipswich, despite having less of the ball, got in behind us far too easy and you could already see it coming. When it did the belief ebbed away because they knew we’ve not even had a shot on target away in three games. The formation and selection (just fuck off back to Villa Barry) is woeful.
SeLLLLLLes deserves all the kicking he is getting and the cowardly, anonymous COH do as well 🤬

I disagree with your reading of the game, I think we were the better team for about an hour, and played far better than we have done previously.

We were totally ineffective.
How is that being a better team?
We were 4 down after an hour!
Have you listened to yourself?
Pissing around in midfield does not make any difference if you can’t create a single chance (first shot on target after about 55 mins) or can’t defend at all.

The only difference was a DCM to help stop more waves of attacks. That’s why it might have looked moderately better but it was nothing like better. It was utter shit.

Whilst I agree that we were better than previously and did control the game for the first 20 mins or so, they were still cutting though us and created chances whilst we created nothing.
They then imposed themselves on the game and our guy did not have a clue how to change things, he stands on the touchline looking like a demented dervish, waving his arms around but nothing works as he is so far out of his depth.
It is pitiful and I feel sorry for the guy, he has had two weeks of the international break to change things, still not creating chances, still not stopping the opposition, he really should be removed from his position for his own good,

Because our opponents were less than ineffective. We caught them with our press consistently, they couldn't keep the ball out build attacks. The commentators and pundits all said we were the better team.
