Stearman says in his interview that he played in another behind closed doors game in which we won, does anybody know the team we played/ who we played?

A good interview from a good professional. He’ll be back sooner rather than later.

As long as Jake keeps his place. Nothing else matters.

I don't think anybody is saying that. Jake Wright's a good player. Ask Wilder. Are you getting more and more uncomfortable that he's playing after you have told us all categorically months ago that he's not going to? You seem quite anxious about this situation. Perhaps it's because you said that.

Since Stearman is apparently fit, why does the person you always tend to agree with, think Jake is 4th choice?

I think if Jake had given that interview rather than Stears, we’d scarcely be able to move for people fawning over him. Quite what Stearman has done to deserve animosity is beyond me. Daring to play the same position as fan-favourite Jake, I suppose. All rather pathetic, in the least generous sense of the word.

He’s been dropped twice already and is only playing because of injuries to others. I like him a lot but I don’t wish upon stars. He’s on the way out. Just as I said last season, to much derision but in fact with unerring accuracy, about Old Runaround, the Rochdale player.

Why would you come on here and wish a first team player of ours with a win ratio better than any Blades defender I can remember over a sustained period to be outed of our club? I just don’t get it!

I don’t. I think we can do better but I certainly don’t want him out of the club. I’m sure his first team appearances will be few and far between come January and beyond. He’s made a number of errors that many have chosen not to see from the Derby County match onwards. He wouldn’t be in the team now but for Stearman’s injury. I believe he’s going to be replaced in the timescale I’ve indicated.

Let’s remember he was brought in as cover at League One level. He’s done unbelievably well since then to play more matches than anyone thought or the manager intended. I admire him greatly. However I’m more concerned about our team than Jake Wright and I don’t take a dislike to a good professional simply for not being him. Odd, I know.

He keeps surpassing expectation, I'd like to see how far that can go. He's proved everyone wrong - me included. He's made the occasional error, as has JOC yet nobody is suggesting JOC would come out of the first eleven because the good massively outweighs the bad. All of the players have made errors at one time or another this season to be fair, just like Richard Stearman will if he comes in.

Wright is 31 though, so obviously he isn't going to be around forever but you can't claim massive credit for ''calling it with unerring accuracy'' when his time does finally come, as we all know it's on the cards eventually. A part of you won't admit that you want it to happen sooner rather than later so you can claim the foresight. That's called having an agenda.

I think Wright suits the role perfectly. If he was in a centre half pairing he'd have been found out ages ago, but our system is built around his attributes in that role and covers for his weaknesses. The shoe fits, in other words. I reckon Jagielka would be a great signing to eventually fill those shoes.

P.S I've been reading this forum for years and years and haven't forgotten that you were in fact a massive Done fan and preferred him to Sharp at a time when Done wasn't really pulling up any trees. He then started to play really well and contributed massively to our upturn in form early last season. His work rate and pressing defenders set an example to the rest of the team to play with an urgency which the current lads still have with them now. The fans appreciated that, so you turned on him, gave him a nickname and brought it up every time you posted.

Out of interest, who has indicated any animosity or dislike towards Stearman?

He's been fine whenever he's played. As has Wright. We're blessed with some really good options in the centre half role. Nice problem for Wilder to have.
