Season Tickets

Unfortunately I have to take a different view to others on the pricing. Think its brilliant that they have frozen prices but, and be kind with the student jokes, ill be graduating this year and the jump from £140 (very reasonable) to £400+ is a big pill to swallow on a graduate wage? I'm also relocating to Manchester and funds are going to be tight.

I understand there has to be a cut off point but to me 22 is not it. There needs to be a step up to say 25yo to cover people like me whilst we are getting set up in life? Happy to pay more but 3 times more is a lot and after 10+years of having a season ticket which is next to my family its hard to say no, regardless of which division we are in!

UTB

The question is, how much is your income increasing by? If its by 3 times (and I can`t beleive that someone getting a graduate wage, won`t be pulling down significantly more than they were when they were a student) or more then its actually fairly consumerate with your new wage...

Maybe, but I doubt students would come for any more? That's 140 pints/shots so to add an extra say £50 onto a season ticket would affect a few good nights out!

Yeh I would do but sat with my family all these years so would rather stay there. As I said, its not going to stop me going, just a point.

thing is in the real world you do what you can afford, not what you have always done, that could be why your in 20K+ of debt (Im not getting on my high horse here as Im in a worse position) Which is another point, I think your being quite naive if you think you suddenly have more money at 30, 40 etc you may be getting paid more but you have so many more responsibilities.

As sellyoak points out, surely youl be earning atleast 3 X what you were as a student so why cant you pay 3X more for the ST as it will be a similar if not smaller percentage of your total income

There's nothing in it for students who arent at Sheffield/NRS/Former Students/People with kids who move through the price barriers........

I used to be in the throng, but given the greatly reduced numbers of staff available to micro-manage and analyise to the nth degree the customer base it's impossible for the club to respond and even if they did, the multi-level offers they'd need to produce would end up being confusion marketing a la mobile phone contracts and energy tariifs. They make you an offer,

Time to a) Pay what they want with a smile on your face
b) as above but without
c) decide the offer isn't for you

Doesn't matter how much you post about it on here/phone or email the club etc with your grievance. Only when c= > a+b will anything radical happen.

Its a fair point although its hard to really say what you 'earned' at uni. A loan plus part time job will probably give you just under half as much as a standard Graduate job so not exactly proportionate. This plays more into what I was saying re banding in that £140 is cheap, £400 is good value for a season ticket id say compared to most clubs but a halfway house to start with at say £300 would maybe encourage those for the first few years and be in line with earnings.

Everyone pays them, but its more to do with the front loading of costs all out of uni: setting up, deposits for renting, bills to start up, loans and now season ticket at this time. You are right in that you may never have the disposable income and the debt is possible at all stages so yes you buy what you can afford. Unfortunately for most in this position, the season ticket is something that is a 'luxury' (if that's what you call the last two home games!) so could be the first to go.

Just got to hope my horse comes in at Cheltenham to give me a cheaper season ticket!

Why not have a discount for those in their early 30's who are just starting a family.

Or for those in their 40s because they are having to buy their kids a ticket.

Or for those in their 50s because of the cost of sending their kids to Uni. ......

Or people called Bert who need to pay in June using Cuban Peso.

I don't agree. There are enough concessions about for the people who genuinely need them, and I feel that is fair enough but I don't think you should complain that there should be another one just because your making the jump from being on a student St to a full price adult one.

Unfortunately the equivalent of that for me last year was us not winning at Wembley, paid for the day out and half my season ticket for this season :(

Because at those stages in life at least you have some funds behind you rather than being in 20k+ of debt!

Lols... try the £110k debt of a mortgage at the age of 26 and 28 respectively. Which is secured and you have no option but to pay back.

There's never enough money. It's a tough lesson to learn but you learn to prioritise.

If you (speaking generally, not just to you) can't afford a season ticket, and didn't think to plan ahead and save for one, then you don't have one. It'll be the same situation for me at 30, 40 and 50.

Or, even more unfortunately, you could have been born a bit earlier like me and just missed all of the real benefits for concessions and used to pay the old under 16 price (before the days of attracting families and kids - I'd hazard a guess they were more than your £140!) and absolutely no student price for the duration of being a student.

Now I'm in my late 20's, I've got the debt of a first mortgage and the timing of ideally starting a family - but still have to continue paying full price :)

The best I got, was a few slightly cheaper aways with the lads from school thanks to the endevours of the likes of Rooks and the Family Stand Coach scheme which was a price including ticket.

Thems the breaks I'm afraid.

I'm sure my concession tickets were around the £220 mark from 16 onwards... they're all kicking around upstairs somewhere so I'm sure I could dig them out.

Thems the breaks I'm afraid.

So it seems! Life lessons to be learnt I'm sure but it all sounds good fun :/

As I said, understand the time has come to put the student card to bed :( just seems a bit of a mixed message from united was my main point. £140 is a very good price for a student and I would quite happily have paid more this season. It does attract students to come but then when faced with £400 they bow out and that's potential new fans lost.

That said, could be the best £400 I ever spent next year with the potential progress we could make and even a push towards the Premi...(not going to say and jinx it like the club have been doing on twitter all day!). No matter what is said, we will all be there next year wind, rain or snow.

Renewed mine but seem unable to renew my sons. Looks like a phone call tomorrow morning. Eh oh

Maybe rather than spending your loan on SUFC season tickets you should have saved the money, then you would have less loan to pay back.

Typical of Blairs children I'm afraid, borrow today to fund spending and complain when it's time to pay it back...

Get a better graduate job? :)

Hats off to the Ticket Office, I emailed them last night and by 9.20 this morning it has all been sorted. thank you

There already is one. It's called the Kop.

Does anyone know where the True Blades are this year? Are they at the lane?

They're not very succesful then :)

That's because I'm organiisng a boycott of season tickets by way of protest at the death and demise of SUFC as a meaningful football club where clappers get excited about a L1 promotion push.

The cost of my ticket for 13/14 is approximately 3.75% higher than last year - and that is a FACT!

It's also a fact that mine is 1.67% cheaper if I renew it online. Or exactly the same price if I go to the ticket office to do it again.

Whatever way you wish to dress it up, the price is the same.

My sons ticket is a lot cheaper at just £40. Not bad for a lad that hates footy !!!
